UAE Community Festival Set for November with Youth Pageant, Music, and Celebrities

The United Arab Emirates is preparing for its most significant year-end community celebration, the Shukran Festival, returning for its third edition in 2025. This month-long event, dedicated to cultural appreciation, youth empowerment, and gratitude, will take place at the Sahara Centre in Sharjah, running every weekend from November 15 to December 13.

Expanded Celebrations at Sahara Centre

Organized by a coalition of local entities, the festival aims to unite families, artists, and community leaders throughout the Emirates. This year’s festival coincides with the UAE’s 54th National Day, emphasizing gratitude towards the nation’s rich multicultural foundation. The decision to move the venue from its previous locations at the Dubai Shopping Festival and Al Rigga Night Market reflects the organizers’ intention to reach a broader audience and foster greater community engagement.

Youth Pageant Highlights Health and Leadership

One of the festival’s standout features is “The Search for the Prince and Princess of Shukran 2025.” This youth competition invites participants aged 15 to 20 from all nationalities. Evaluation criteria will encompass not just talent and stage presence but also advocacy efforts in promoting youth health and well-being.

“Elena C. Cruz, the founder and CEO of the event’s organizing entity, noted, “Shukran has grown into a tradition that unites people from all walks of life. As we celebrate our third year, we’re putting the spotlight on Youth Health and Well-Being — because empowered, healthy youth build empowered communities.” Her insights reflect the festival’s commitment to inspiring future leaders.

In alignment with these goals, co-producer Josie Conlu affirmed, “It’s inspiring to see how Shukran has evolved into a platform for the youth to lead, express, and connect.” She emphasized that the competition extends beyond traditional beauty standards, focusing on character, compassion, and confidence.

Live Performances and Celebrity Attendance

Festival attendees can look forward to a dynamic schedule of live performances and activities. Local youth bands will perform, showcasing their talents in a variety of genres. Additionally, multicultural dance presentations will enhance the event’s cultural richness. A notable highlight includes a special guest appearance by a popular local artist, set to headline the Grand Coronation and Celebrity Night on December 13.

As the festival culminates, the new Prince and Princess of Shukran will be crowned, celebrating four weekends filled with community engagement and entertainment.

Focus on Gratitude and Community Unity

Since its inception three years ago, the Shukran Festival has evolved into a beloved tradition centered on appreciation and inclusivity. Organizers describe the celebration as a tribute to the generosity of the UAE, serving as a stage for strengthening cultural harmony and fostering youth leadership.

By emphasizing gratitude as a cornerstone value, Shukran 2025 highlights the importance of personal and communal responsibilities through wellness initiatives and advocacy efforts. This year, the festival endeavors to create lasting memories while encouraging a spirit of unity among residents and expatriates alike.
