Ella Langley Poised to Make Grammy History with Potential Four Nominations at 2027 Awards
Ella Langley stands on the brink of making Grammy history, thanks to a recent rule change in the Best New Artist category. Announced in June, this change allows artists to be nominated up to four times instead of the previous limit of three. As a result, Langley could receive nominations in four of the six general field categories at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year, as well as Best New Artist. If successful, she would become the first country crossover artist to achieve this milestone since Bobbie Gentry in 1968.
Other Contenders for Major Nominations
In addition to Langley, several artists are also in contention for nominations in the marquee categories. Olivia Dean, who won Best New Artist at the previous ceremony, is expected to be nominated in three other major categories. Olivia Rodrigo, who took home the same award in 2022, is also a strong contender, along with Noah Kahan, Bruno Mars, RAYE, and Taylor Swift.
The eligibility period for the 2027 Grammy Awards runs from August 31, 2025, to August 28, 2026. First-round voting will take place from October 12 to October 22, with nominations set to be announced on November 16.
For the fourth consecutive year, there will be eight nominees in each of these categories. With just over a month remaining in the eligibility window, predictions for potential nominees are being made, with names listed in alphabetical order alongside shortlists of other possibilities.
Album of the Year
Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift are both aiming for significant achievements in the Album of the Year category. If McCartney is nominated for The Boys of Dungeon Lane, it will mark his record-extending 10th nomination in this category. Swift’s nomination for The Life of a Showgirl would be her eighth in this category, making her the artist with the most nominations for strictly solo albums in Grammy history. Swift has been nominated in this category with each of her last four studio albums, while McCartney last received a nomination here in 2006.
