Madinati Empowers Residents to Report Urban Issues in Dubai Effortlessly
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has streamlined the process for residents and visitors to report urban issues such as fallen trees and malfunctioning traffic signals through its service, Madinati. This initiative aims to enhance community engagement and maintain the city’s infrastructure, aligning with Dubai’s Smart and Sustainable City strategy.
Understanding Madinati
Launched in 2007, Madinati, which translates to “My city” in Arabic, serves as a vital tool for preserving Dubai’s urban landscape. The service facilitates direct communication between the public and government authorities regarding the quality of public facilities, infrastructure, and public spaces. It is part of a broader effort to foster collaboration between the community and local authorities, as outlined by the Dubai Civility Committee.
Issues Reportable via Madinati
Madinati is designed to address a variety of urban concerns. Residents can report issues related to road safety, cleanliness, and infrastructure. Specific reportable issues include:
- Damaged pavements
- Broken traffic signals
- Incorrect or damaged directional signage
- Environmental hazards, such as fallen trees or flooding
- Cleanliness issues, including overturned dumpsters
- Facility-related safety concerns, such as electrical risks and water leaks
Accessing Madinati
In February 2026, the RTA and Digital Dubai enhanced Madinati with artificial intelligence features, collaborating with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Municipality to expand its service offerings. Residents can access Madinati through three primary channels.
Option 1: DubaiNow App
Madinati is integrated into the DubaiNow app, simplifying the reporting process. To use this feature, follow these steps:
- Download the DubaiNow app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and sign in using your UAE PASS.
- On the home screen, navigate to ‘Services’ and select ‘Environment’. Tap ‘Report Urban Issues (Madinati)’.
- The app will prompt you to capture a photograph of the issue, such as a fallen tree. Upload the image via the app.
- The AI-powered service will analyze the image, identify the issue, and generate a case description, which will be assigned to the relevant authority.
- Review the information and make any necessary changes before selecting ‘Submit’.
Authorities will follow up on the report, typically within one to five working days.
Option 2: RTA’s Mahboub Virtual Assistant on WhatsApp
In September 2025, RTA introduced Madinati as a smart reporting service via its Mahboub chatbot on WhatsApp. To report issues through this platform:
- Open WhatsApp and save RTA’s number, +97158 800 9090, as a contact, ideally labeled ‘Mahboub’.
- Start a chat with Mahboub, providing a description of the issue and any relevant images.
- Mahboub will confirm if you wish to report the issue. Respond with ‘Yes’.
- You will be prompted to provide the location of the issue, either by sending a location pin or typing the address.
- After confirming the details, you will receive a ticket or reference number. RTA will respond within five days, and you can use the reference number for follow-up inquiries.
Option 3: RTA Dubai App
For users of the RTA Dubai app, Madinati is readily accessible. To report an issue:
- Download the RTA Dubai app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and log in using your UAE PASS.
- Navigate to ‘Report an Issue’ and select ‘Madinati’.
- Complete the report by providing your personal details, a description of the issue, and the exact location.
- Upload photographs of the issue via the app.
- Click ‘Submit report’. RTA will respond within five working days.
As reported by www.emirates247.com, these enhancements to Madinati reflect Dubai’s commitment to improving urban management and community engagement.
