K-pop Sensation IVE Strengthens Global Presence with New Album and U.S. Tour
On a Tuesday in early spring, the members of IVE gathered in a converted warehouse studio near Los Angeles’ Arts District for a Vevo Studios shoot. The six-member girl group, consisting of Yujin, Wonyoung, Gaeul, Rei, Liz, and Leeseo, focused intently on a monitor displaying their latest performance take, while makeup artists and hair stylists provided quick touch-ups.
Earlier this year, IVE released their second studio album, Revive+, marking a new chapter in their career. The group launched this era with the pre-release single “Bang Bang,” one of the two tracks they performed during the shoot.
Despite a busy schedule filled with multiple takes of singing and dancing, the members found brief moments to relax, appearing more like young women than global superstars. They engaged with their phones and chatted during their downtime.
Wonyoung expressed enthusiasm about being in Los Angeles, stating their love for working in the city. At just 21 years old, she has been a K-pop idol for eight years, having gained fame by winning the popular Korean music competition series Produce 48 at the age of 14. She subsequently joined the temporary girl group Iz*One, alongside fellow IVE member and leader Yujin.
When IVE debuted with their first single “Eleven” in 2021, they already had significant talent within the group. Wonyoung and Yujin brought K-pop experience, while Liz showcased her powerful vocals. Gaeul, a skilled rapper and songwriter, and Rei, known for her charisma, added to the group’s dynamic, alongside the youngest member, Leeseo, who has captured hearts with her charm. Their collective talents contributed to their rapid success.
The group has dominated domestic charts and toured globally, yet they continue to embrace new experiences, such as the Vevo shoot. Rei noted that this was their first performance of this kind in the U.S., admitting that the studio was smaller than she had anticipated. She reflected on their numerous performances in Korea, emphasizing the uniqueness of this particular event.
Now, IVE is back in the U.S. for their Show What I Am world tour, which includes a performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on August 1. This tour features new performances, including solo stages for each member, continuing the group’s initiative to showcase individual songs from Revive+.

Yujin acknowledged her initial worries about exploring new genres, particularly with “Bang Bang.” However, the positive reception exceeded their expectations, reinforcing their commitment to improving their performances.
Liz mentioned the challenges of being in the public eye, noting the pressure that comes with success. She expressed a desire for freedom to travel and live life more openly, while recognizing the love and risks associated with their fame. Gaeul added that misunderstandings are common, but they remain focused on their goals and aspirations.
Wonyoung highlighted the contrast between their public personas and their true selves, emphasizing that they are just six young women enjoying their time together. As they prepare for their upcoming tour, Yujin reflected on the positive memories from their last tour and emphasized the importance of health, ensuring they stay well-rested and nourished.
Rei shared her journey as the only foreign member, expressing gratitude for the support she received from her teammates, which helped her navigate challenges, particularly with the Korean language.
Wonyoung recalled a moment when they created a video choreography for the popular song “Golden,” feeling a connection to their own track “I Am.” The positive reception of that video was a delightful surprise.
As they gear up for their tour, Wonyoung reiterated the importance of health, emphasizing their commitment to staying fit and energized.
