Nvidia Expands DLSS 5 Support to Older RTX 40 GPUs, Limits Gamer Controls

However, Nvidia spokesperson Rajal Maharaj confirmed that the technology will also be available for RTX 40-series GPUs. “Our current focus is on optimizing performance for the GeForce RTX 50 Series with model updates expected later this fall. Once RTX 50 Series performance is more fully tuned, we plan to work on expanding official support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series,” Maharaj stated.

Limited Gamer Controls

Despite the expanded support, Nvidia has clarified that gamers will not have the same level of control over DLSS 5 settings as modders do. The company confirmed that for gamers, DLSS 5 will function as a simple on-or-off toggle. More granular controls, such as model selection and masking options, will remain in the hands of developers. However, developers may choose to offer some of these controls in their settings menus, similar to previous iterations of DLSS.

Integration and Performance

DLSS 5 is designed for easy integration into games, as it can automatically recognize and isolate objects within a scene. This capability allows for different levels of AI processing to be applied based on the type of object, enhancing the overall visual experience.
