Entries open for World Triathlon Women’s Cup in Dubai, set for December 6

Entries are now open for the World Triathlon Women’s Cup, set to take place at Al Mamzar Beach Park in Dubai on December 6. This event, organized by the Dubai Sports Council in collaboration with World Triathlon and the UAE Triathlon Federation, aims to celebrate women’s strength and encourage participation from athletes of all levels, from novices to elite competitors.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasized the event’s mission to inspire women and girls to engage in triathlons, stating that it provides essential visibility for female athletes. The competition will feature three race formats: the Super Sprint, the Sprint, and an Elite race, catering to a wide range of participants.

Race Formats and Challenges

The Super Sprint is designed for first-time triathletes, comprising a 400m swim, a 10km bike ride, and a 2.5km run. For those seeking a greater challenge, the Sprint distance includes a 750m swim, a 20km bike ride, and a 5km run. Participants aged 18 and over can compete individually or form relay teams of up to three members.

The Elite race, managed by World Triathlon, will mirror the Sprint distance and offers a significant incentive, with the winner earning 500 Olympic Ranking points. Details regarding the elite competitors will be announced closer to the event.

Special Recognition for Emirati Athletes

A unique aspect of this year’s competition is the separate category for Emirati athletes, recognizing the top three finishers in both individual and team formats. This initiative aims to promote local talent and encourage participation among Emirati women.

Entry Fees and Family-Friendly Activities

Early bird registration is available until November 13, with fees set at AED 240 for individuals and AED 480 for relay teams. After this date, prices will increase to AED 300 and AED 600, respectively. The event promises to be inclusive, with an event village open on December 5 and throughout race day, featuring grandstands for spectators, wellness activities, and food options.

Community Engagement and Wellness Focus

The event will also host WTWC Talks, offering panel discussions on nutrition, movement, mental wellbeing, and work-life balance, making it a holistic experience for participants and attendees alike.
