Dubai is preparing to welcome the OCEANMAN World Final Championship from December 5 to 7 at Kite Beach. The event, organized in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, will feature over 2,800 swimmers representing 93 nationalities competing in various categories, including men’s, women’s, and children’s events. The competition will showcase a high-profile field, including Olympic champions and more than 1,200 national champions, with 80 percent of participants traveling to Dubai specifically for this event.

At a recent press conference held at the Dubai Sports Council headquarters, key figures discussed the significance of the upcoming championship. Issa Sharif, Director of the Sports Events Department at the Council, expressed enthusiasm for hosting this prestigious competition, emphasizing that it ranks among the world’s top open water swimming events. “Dubai has successfully hosted previous editions,” Sharif noted, “and remains an attractive destination for athletes due to its excellent infrastructure and stunning beaches.”
Fermín Egido, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, praised the city for its appeal to both tourists and athletes. He stated, “This is the second time Dubai hosts the OCEANMAN World Finals, and we are excited to see another large turnout.” He acknowledged that every edition reflects impressive organization and a welcoming atmosphere.
Participation and Competition Structure
This year’s championship is notable for having the most participants in the history of the OCEANMAN series. With a diverse array of athletes, including Olympic and world champions, the event reaffirms Dubai’s reputation as a prime destination for global sports. “The wide participation illustrates strong confidence in Dubai’s ability to host major international events,” Sharif said.
The championship will feature races at two key distances: 10 kilometers and 5 kilometers. Competitions will kick off on Friday, December 5, while team, sprint, and children’s races are scheduled for Sunday, December 6.
