Rostro Group Secures SCA Licence for UAE Expansion and Regional Trading Launch
Transformative Milestone in Fintech Development
International fintech and financial services provider Rostro Group has achieved a significant milestone by securing a Category 5 licence from the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA). This crucial approval enables the company to enhance its operations in the United Arab Emirates and positions it as a compliant participant in the nation’s dynamic financial landscape.
The newly acquired licence represents Rostro Group’s long-term commitment to serving the UAE market. It allows the firm to introduce a range of products tailored to local investors. This includes access to over 60 regional contract for difference (CFD) equities and proprietary indices specifically designed to reflect the performance of stock markets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Commitment to a Future-Ready Financial Hub
The SCA’s strengthened regulatory measures are enhancing industry standards across the UAE. For Rostro Group, obtaining the licence is a testament to its adherence to high standards of transparency, investor protection, and responsible market practices.
Michael Ayres, chief executive officer of Rostro Group, commented on the strategic importance of the UAE for the firm. “We at Rostro Group see the UAE as one of the most forward-thinking financial centres, one that will soon rival leading centres like London, Singapore or New York,” he stated. Ayres emphasized that this licence deepens their alignment with the UAE’s vision for a tech-first, institutionally robust financial ecosystem.
Expanding Services for Institutional and Retail Investors
Rostro Group operates a multi-brand structure geared towards diverse investor segments. Its Scope Prime division specializes in serving institutional clients by providing liquidity and trading infrastructure. Conversely, Scope Markets is tailored for retail investors.
With the regulatory approval in hand, the company plans to roll out services specifically designed for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Scope Prime is now set to deliver multi-asset prime brokerage services to financial institutions throughout the GCC. Meanwhile, the retail division, Scope Markets, will introduce account types in various currencies, including AED and USD, supported by newly established local banking partnerships.
The extension of their product range to feature over 60 regional CFD equities and dedicated indices for the Dubai and Abu Dhabi markets reflects Rostro Group’s strategy to offer localized trading opportunities while ensuring access to global markets.
Developing a Unified Financial Ecosystem
Founded in 2021 by Roger Hambury and currently led by Michael Ayres, Rostro Group has rapidly positioned itself as a diversified fintech entity. The group operates multiple brokerage brands and invests in financial technology initiatives.
The newly secured licence allows Rostro Group to operate in compliance with the UAE’s stringent expectations for the financial sector. By establishing local banking relationships and gaining regulatory approval, the company aims to ease operations for local clients and contribute to the UAE’s innovative “tech-first” financial vision.
“Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s rapid evolution into a future-ready financial ecosystem is unmatched,” Ayres added. The group plans to leverage this evolving environment to scale its operations and deliver a cohesive global ecosystem for clients, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional financial markets and the emerging digital economy.
