Preliminary estimates indicate that fans might spend up to Dh65,000 (approximately $17,700) for a round-trip journey to attend multiple matches, provided they can secure tickets, which are expected to sell out rapidly.

Football Supporters Europe has warned that fans seeking to accompany their teams through all three group-stage matches, followed by a potential trip to the final, should anticipate spending a minimum of $6,900. This figure is nearly five times the cost incurred for a similar experience during the tournament held in Qatar in 2022.
FIFA has introduced a limited quantity of “more affordable” tickets priced at $60 for each of the 104 matches following criticism regarding ticket pricing. However, these tickets will only be accessible to a select group of “loyal fans” from qualifying nations, and they may also be subject to fluctuating prices, exacerbating the financial burden for spectators in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Fans heading to Canada can expect to pay approximately Dh4,400 for one-stop flights to Toronto, with prices likely rising closer to the event date due to increased demand.

Monty Guhathakurta, a project manager in Dubai, expressed concerns about attending the World Cup. “When the World Cup was in Qatar, I was quite confident of getting there,” he noted. He mentioned the critical role of logistics and pricing, saying, “I may not go to the USA, Mexico, or Canada, as a lot will depend on the ticket prices, which look very expensive.”
Moreover, the current political environment in the U.S. raises apprehensions among fans. Potential unrest could jeopardize the tournament, as local leaders may face pressure from federal authorities to enhance safety measures. “If anybody wants to watch a game, they are at risk of potentially seeing cities being dropped at the last minute,” Guhathakurta cautioned.

Alan Holt, a sports tourism agency director, commented on the expected influx of South American fans, stating, “Many South Americans traveled to Qatar, so we anticipate an even larger turnout this time.” As a result, the pressure for tickets will likely intensify.

Visa processes could further complicate travel plans, as prospective attendees may face lengthy wait times for appointments. This hurdle is already evident for many fans trying to secure access to matches. For some, the combination of high ticket prices and visa uncertainties has made attending the World Cup seem daunting.
Iraqi fans are also weighing the costs against their enthusiasm. One individual mentioned their brother in the U.S. had applied for FIFA tickets only to discover the total cost nearing $60,000 for several matches. Comparatively, they recalled spending only $200 for a Tier Two quarterfinal ticket in Qatar.
