Emirates Urges Early Check-In and Dubai Metro Use to Avoid Traffic
Increased Passenger Traffic Anticipated
Emirates Airlines is advising its passengers to plan ahead and check in at least four hours prior to departure. This recommendation comes as the airline expects a notable surge in passenger numbers during the busy period from January 2 to January 5. Increased travel is anticipated due to the conclusion of school holidays and a significant influx of tourists departing after the festive celebrations in Dubai.
Inbound and outbound travel volumes are projected to rise substantially in the coming week. “We encourage our customers to arrive early at the airport,” an Emirates spokesperson stated, citing potential delays stemming from traffic congestion, busy car parks, and crowded terminals.
Importance of Early Arrival
By arriving four hours before their scheduled flight, passengers will have sufficient time to complete their check-in process, drop off luggage, and navigate through immigration before reaching their boarding gate at least one hour prior to departure. This extra time is crucial for ensuring a smooth travel experience, especially during peak travel days.
Emirates is also reminding travelers to preselect their seats and to confirm that all travel documents are current and ready for inspection.
Alternative Check-In Options Available
Remote Check-In Facilities
Emirates has made provisions for travelers who may wish to check in without visiting the airport. Passengers can utilize the airline’s remote check-in services available at the Emirates City Check In and Travel Store in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Ajman.
Located in the heart of the business district, the Emirates City Check In and Travel Store in ICD Brookfield Place offers complimentary parking and allows customers to check in and drop off luggage up to 24 hours and as late as four hours before their flight. As an added incentive, customers who utilize this service until January 15 will receive 2,500 Emirates Skywards Miles.
In Ajman, the 24-hour Emirates City Check In service is conveniently located at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal. This facility also offers the same check-in timeline, aiming to streamline the travel process for passengers.
Home Check-In Services
For those residing in Dubai and Sharjah, Emirates offers an innovative Home Check-In service. This option allows passengers to complete the check-in process from the comfort of their home, hotel, or office. Emirates agents will handle the checking in and baggage for travelers, enabling them to arrive later at the airport with only their hand luggage.
This complimentary service is available for First Class customers and Platinum Skywards members, requiring bookings to be made at least 24 hours before departure.
Utilizing Public Transport: Dubai Metro
Emirates is also recommending the use of public transport, particularly the Dubai Metro, as a viable alternative to combat anticipated road congestion. The Dubai Metro provides a fast and efficient connection to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, with direct access via the Red Line.
Trains operate frequently from early morning until late at night, making the Metro an ideal choice for avoiding traffic during busy travel times. The Terminal 3 station is seamlessly linked to the terminal through walkways and escalators, facilitating easy access to check-in, departures, and arrivals.
In summary, as Emirates anticipates increased passenger traffic in early January, travelers are strongly encouraged to check in early and consider remote check-in options or public transport to enhance their journey experience through Dubai International Airport.
