Netflix Accelerates April Lineup with New Seasons of XO, Kitty and Beef, Plus Thrillers Starring Charlize Theron and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Netflix is set to unveil an exciting array of new films and television series in April 2026. The lineup features a mix of returning favorites and fresh content, including the highly anticipated third season of XO, Kitty, the second season of Beef, and thrilling new titles such as Thrash and Apex.
Highlights of April Releases
The third season of XO, Kitty premieres on April 2. The series follows Kitty Song Covey, portrayed by Anna Cathcart, as she embarks on her senior year at KISS in Seoul, South Korea. This season consists of eight episodes and introduces Valentina Garza as the new showrunner. Returning cast members include Minyeong Choi, Gia Kim, and Sang Heon Lee, who join Kitty in navigating the complexities of adolescence, including secrets and scandals.
On April 10, the survival thriller Thrash makes its debut. Directed by Tommy Wirkola, known for Silent Night, the film features a star-studded cast including Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou. The plot centers around a coastal town devastated by a Category 5 hurricane, where the storm surge unleashes a terrifying swarm of hungry sharks.
New Season of Beef
The second season of Beef, an acclaimed anthology series, premieres on April 16. Created by Lee Sung Jin and produced by A24, this season introduces a new cast featuring Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny. The narrative unfolds at an elite country club, where a blackmail war ignites after two employees witness a violent altercation between their boss and his wife.
Comedy and Drama Offerings
Kevin Hart returns to Netflix on April 20 with Funny AF with Kevin Hart, a stand-up competition series aimed at discovering the next big comedy star. Hart will be joined by a rotating panel of guest judges, including Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura, and Nikki Glaser. The series will culminate in live episodes where the audience will help select a winner who will receive their own Netflix special.
The basketball drama Running Point kicks off its second season on April 23. Kate Hudson reprises her role as Isla Gordon, the president of the Los Angeles Waves. Also premiering on April 23 is Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated spinoff from the popular franchise. Directed by Phil Allora and showrun by Eric Robles, the series is set in the winter of 1985 in Hawkins and features a voice cast that includes Odessa A’zion. The show aims to explore new mysteries while connecting events from the original series’ second and third seasons.
Thrillers and Adaptations
April continues to deliver thrilling content with the release of Apex on April 24. Starring Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana, the film is set in the Australian wilderness and follows Theron as a grieving woman who becomes the target of a cunning killer in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, known for Beast and Everest, the film promises to be a gripping addition to Netflix’s lineup.
Capping off the month, the series premiere of Man on Fire arrives on April 30. This reimagining of A.J. Quinnell’s novel series features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as John Creasy, a former mercenary struggling with PTSD who is drawn back into action in a quest for redemption. The series is written and showrun by Kyle Killen and also stars Scoot McNairy as Creasy’s CIA contact.
