Launch of Hub71+ Life Sciences
Among the highlights was the announcement of Hub71+ Life Sciences, a new ecosystem aimed at accelerating the development and commercialization of innovations in BioTech, MedTech, and digital health. This initiative is set to position Abu Dhabi as a pivotal global launchpad for life sciences startups.
The newly formed platform will facilitate direct connections for founders with regulators, hospitals, investors, and industry partners. This strategy aims to transform scientific advancements into market-ready outcomes, supporting early clinical validation and market access.
Ahmad Ali Alwan, CEO of Hub71, emphasized the initiative’s significance, stating, “Since 2019, Hub71 has supported hundreds of startups that have helped shape Abu Dhabi’s innovation landscape.” He elaborated that Hub71+ Life Sciences will provide a dedicated environment for stakeholders to collaborate and foster healthcare innovation.
Strategic Partnerships for HealthTech Innovation
The launch of Hub71+ Life Sciences is aligned strategically with major healthcare entities, including the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Drug Establishment. These organizations have partnered as foundation stakeholders, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s ambition to cultivate a robust life sciences economy.
The initiatives also include collaborations with other notable partners such as the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Together, 12 partners aim to provide startups with regulatory support, pilot projects, and funding opportunities, all crucial for bringing transformative healthcare innovations to market.
The launch responds to predictions of a robust growth trajectory for the MENA healthcare market, which is projected to reach $412 billion by 2032, indicating a strong demand for medical innovation across the region.

Hub71’s advancements support the emirate’s ambition to establish itself as the world’s first AI-native government by 2027. Furthermore, Hub71 launched “Initiate,” a new program for early-stage founders. This initiative, developed with subject matter experts, aims to provide hands-on guidance essential for startups to validate their concepts and prepare for growth.

One notable collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority integrates the Anjal Z initiative into the Hub71 Access Programme. This expansion will provide five seats in its Cohort 19 and allocate AED3 million in pilot funding for startups focused on early childhood solutions.
Participating startups will also benefit from incentives up to AED500,000 and gain access to Hub71’s extensive market network and investor community. Another initiative, in partnership with Numou, aims to enhance liquidity for SMEs by facilitating easier access to working capital.
Additionally, the event welcomed eight prominent Web3 startups from Hong Kong, thereby strengthening cross-border collaboration between the Asian and Middle Eastern ecosystems of innovation.
Abu Dhabi is rapidly evolving as a global hub for innovation and technology.
Growth of the Startup Ecosystem
Hub71’s community now includes nearly 300 startups that have collectively raised AED9 billion and generated AED5 billion in revenue. This growth underscores Abu Dhabi’s emergence as one of the fastest-growing startup markets in the MENA region.
With the introduction of Hub71+ Life Sciences, the number of specialized ecosystems within Hub71 has increased to four, joining Hub71+ AI, Hub71+ Digital Assets, and Hub71+ ClimateTech. Each of these ecosystems has been specifically designed to unlock innovation in high-priority sectors, supporting the broader ambition of Abu Dhabi to serve as a global innovation capital.
