Dubai Municipality Accelerates Urban Innovation with “Work from Park” Initiative, Transforming Public Spaces into Productive Work Environments
Dubai Municipality has launched the “Work from Park” initiative, a groundbreaking effort aimed at transforming public parks into multifunctional urban spaces that seamlessly integrate productivity, leisure, and nature. This initiative seeks to enhance the quality of life in Dubai while adapting to modern work patterns and boosting economic productivity.
Strategic Partnerships for Implementation
To implement this initiative, Dubai Municipality has signed two Memoranda of Cooperation with Group AMANA and Letswork LLC. These partnerships are focused on developing and operating advanced infrastructure for future-ready workspaces within public parks throughout the emirate. The initiative aligns with several strategic frameworks, including the Dubai 2040 Parks and Greenery Strategy, the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, all aimed at fostering a sustainable and integrated urban environment.
Innovative Urban Model
The “Work from Park” initiative introduces flexible work environments within parks, positioning these spaces as vibrant destinations for various users. This innovative urban model is tailored for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small to medium-sized enterprises, as well as the expanding remote working community. By incorporating workspaces into public parks, the initiative aims to maintain their recreational role while enhancing their functionality as environments conducive to productivity.
The first flagship location is scheduled to open in May 2026 at Al Barsha Pond Park. This site will feature modular workspaces constructed to high sustainability standards, designed to blend seamlessly with the park’s natural surroundings. Additional locations will be established across various parks throughout the year, broadening the initiative’s impact.
Advanced Construction Techniques
Group AMANA, through its subsidiary DuBox, will employ advanced off-site modular construction technology to develop the inaugural “Work from Park” destination. This method enables the efficient manufacturing of high-quality units off-site, followed by on-site assembly, significantly reducing construction time and minimizing waste. The modular construction approach enhances resource efficiency and ensures that the workspaces can adapt to the evolving needs of users.
Enhancing Community Engagement
The collaboration with Letswork will focus on activating and managing the initiative across public parks, including Al Barsha Pond Park. This partnership aims to foster an open and flexible working environment accessible to all. The Letswork platform will offer a diverse range of workspaces, including hot desks, event spaces, podcast studios, and creative production facilities.
Additionally, the partnership will cater to content creators by developing dedicated creative workspaces tailored to their specific requirements. This initiative is expected to bolster Dubai’s burgeoning creative economy and promote entrepreneurship through educational programs and collaborative sessions.
Public-Private Partnership Model
The “Work from Park” initiative will be executed through a structured public-private partnership model. This approach opens new avenues for private sector participation and investment, supporting the development of a sustainable and innovation-driven urban economy. By leveraging the expertise of private sector partners, Dubai Municipality aims to establish a pioneering model for public infrastructure that is flexible, sustainable, and aligned with contemporary lifestyles.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the initiative’s importance, stating that it reflects a commitment to transforming public parks into future-ready urban spaces. He noted that the collaboration with Group AMANA and Letswork utilizes advanced construction methodologies and innovative workspace models, contributing to a higher standard of sustainable quality of life for both residents and visitors.
Richard Abboud, CEO of Group AMANA, expressed pride in participating in this initiative, emphasizing the use of advanced modular construction solutions to create high-quality, efficient, and flexible environments. He reiterated the importance of supporting the UAE’s vision for sustainable development and innovative urban infrastructure.
Omar AlMheiri, Co-Founder of Letswork, commented on the partnership’s potential to redefine flexible work in the UAE. By integrating their digital platform with Dubai’s public parks, they aim to provide inspiring, tech-enabled environments that meet the needs of entrepreneurs and content creators.
