Dubai Municipality Unveils Khor Al Mamzar Beach, Setting New Standard for Family-Friendly Urban Tourism

Dubai has officially opened Khor Al Mamzar Beach, a significant new addition to its coastal landscape. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at expanding the city’s beaches and infrastructure to meet growing demand. Inauguration Ceremony Highlights
The beach was inaugurated by His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, alongside several Directors General from various Dubai government entities. The ceremony attracted local residents from Al Mamzar and Deira, media representatives, and influencers, featuring community-focused entertainment and interactive activities.
Khor Al Mamzar Beach spans 2.75 million square feet, providing an integrated beachfront experience that combines leisure, sports, and relaxation. The advanced infrastructure supports this development, positioning it as one of the leading waterfront experiences in the region.
Vision for Urban Development
Eng. Marwan bin Ghalita emphasized that the development of Dubai’s infrastructure reflects the leadership’s vision to create high-quality destinations for both residents and visitors. He noted that the emirate continues to prioritize human wellbeing at the core of urban development through integrated recreational and service facilities.

Features and Amenities
Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, described the project as a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing coastal infrastructure and reshaping the beachfront into a vibrant, all-day destination. The opening signifies a milestone in delivering high-quality public beaches that blend design excellence, integrated experiences, and community engagement.
Dubai Municipality has prioritized the development of Al Mamzar Beaches to accommodate rising visitor demand, which is projected to reach 7 million annually following the completion of the second phase at Al Mamzar Corniche. The destination offers a variety of service, leisure, and tourism facilities designed to provide high-quality experiences while ensuring accessibility for People of Determination.
Khor Al Mamzar Beach has undergone a comprehensive transformation, including the expansion of the swimming shoreline to 3.6 kilometers, a 128 percent increase. A 300-meter night beach operating 24/7 has also been introduced, allowing continuous access throughout the day and evening.
Recreational Opportunities
Additional features at Khor Al Mamzar Beach include the region’s first floating walkway, over 5.5 kilometers of running, walking, and cycling tracks, an outdoor gym, beach volleyball courts, padel courts, and a range of marine and water-based activities such as kayaking and other water sports.
The sandy beachfront area has increased by 110 percent to 182,000 square meters, while public facilities have expanded by 400 percent to a total of 20. The development also includes eight recreational amenities and 19 food and beverage outlets, marking a 950 percent increase, with further investment opportunities in the pipeline.
Safety Enhancements
In terms of safety, Dubai Municipality has enhanced infrastructure capacity by 340 percent through an integrated safety system that includes 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points.
As part of its commitment to public-private partnerships and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Dubai Municipality will offer a range of leasing and investment opportunities. This initiative invites operators and entrepreneurs to contribute to the long-term sustainability of the destination.
Broader Development Initiatives
Khor Al Mamzar Beach is part of a larger AED 3 billion beachfront development program under Dubai’s public beach development master plan. This program includes projects at Al Mamzar Corniche and Jumeirah 1, as well as planned upgrades at Jumeirah 2, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach.
The project supports the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 by enhancing public spaces, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting community wellbeing. It also aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, reinforcing Al Mamzar Beaches as a next-generation model for integrated beachfront development in Dubai.
