BTS Accelerates World Tour Success, Grossing $124 Million in April and May

BTS, the globally renowned South Korean septet, has marked a triumphant return with their first world tour in seven years, the Arirang World Tour. The tour has already achieved remarkable success, dominating Billboard’s April Boxscore report.

According to data from Billboard Boxscore, BTS grossed $76.2 million and sold 417,000 tickets across eight shows in April. With additional performances reported in early May, the tour’s total gross has surged to $124 million, with 660,000 tickets sold as of their concert on May 10 at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros.

Record-Breaking Comeback

BTS’s 2026 comeback follows the release of their album, ARIRANG, which debuted with a record-breaking 641,000 equivalent album units in its first week, securing the top spot on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks. The album’s lead single, “Swim,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and maintained its position atop the Billboard Global 200 for four weeks. As of May 23, it continues to lead the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for its sixth non-consecutive week.

Despite limited touring since the inception of the monthly Boxscore charts in 2019, BTS has now claimed the No. 1 spot on Top Tours for three months, with eight total appearances in the top six. This marks the group’s fifth time reaching No. 1 on Top Boxscores.

Tour Highlights and Financial Success

The Arirang World Tour commenced with three shows at Goyang Stadium in South Korea on April 9, 11, and 12, grossing $16.9 million and $18.6 million, respectively. These performances ranked third and fourth on the Top Boxscores. However, the tour’s subsequent shows in the United States showcased the immense power of the American market.

Three shows at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium generated $40.7 million from 194,000 tickets sold, positioning BTS at No. 1 on the Top Boxscores as the highest-grossing and best-selling single-venue engagement of April. The revenue from the Florida shows surpassed the combined totals from Goyang and Tokyo.

As of May, the Arirang World Tour is on track to surpass BTS’s previous best, with a projected total of $213.9 million from the Love Yourself World Tour, which included 1.7 million tickets sold during its 2018-19 run. The brief series of shows branded as Permission to Dance on Stage grossed $75.5 million and sold 458,000 tickets, figures already eclipsed by the current tour.

Regional Performance Analysis

The Arirang World Tour is significantly outpacing previous BTS concerts. Asian dates averaged $7.1 million and 44,500 tickets sold, far exceeding the 2019 leg of the Love Yourself World Tour, which averaged $3.8 million. In the U.S., the Tampa and Texas shows averaged $12.1 million and 58,400 tickets, reflecting increases of 64% and 40% from the group’s last two U.S. tours.

BTS’s current tour is their most extensive yet, with 85 scheduled shows compared to 62 during the Love Yourself Tour. Unlike previous tours that included arenas, the Arirang dates are exclusively in stadiums. The international scope of the 2026-27 tour is unprecedented, covering Asia, the U.S., and Mexico before mid-May. Future dates include more U.S. shows, a return to Busan, a European leg, additional North American stops, South American performances, and concluding shows in Australia, Hong Kong, and Manila.

Projected Revenue and Market Dominance

The Arirang World Tour is poised to approach half a billion dollars in ticket revenue, with over three million fans expected to attend. This tour will account for more than half of BTS’s total career touring revenue and ticket sales.

In April, BTS outperformed its closest competitor by more than double on the Top Tours chart. Luke Combs ranked second with $36.5 million from various U.S. stadiums, while Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band followed with $35.4 million from eight arenas. Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, earned $32.6 million from two shows at SoFi Stadium, marking the highest-grossing concerts of his career.

The Sphere venue in Las Vegas continues to lead the Top Venues (15,001+) category, significantly outpacing London’s O2 Arena. In April, the Sphere hosted multiple acts, including the Eagles and Illenium, contributing to its top ranking.

Among various venues, Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros led the month with over $50 million from six shows, followed by stadiums in Tampa, Inglewood, Tokyo, and Goyang.
