Film Synopsis and Sequel Journey

Beetlejuice 2 picks up with the Deetz family returning to their old home, now featuring Ryder’s character’s teenage daughter, played by Ortega. She stumbles upon the model of the town in the attic, inadvertently reopening the portal to the afterlife and summoning Keaton’s Betelgeuse.
The sequel, long in development, had been in discussions since the original film’s success in 1988. Despite various script attempts and delays, the project gained momentum in early 2022, with production handled by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment in collaboration with Warner Bros.

Burton revealed that working on Beetlejuice 2 revitalized his passion for filmmaking after the mixed reception of his 2019 film Dumbo.
