Beyoncé’s Christmas Day halftime performance during the Ravens-Texans game in Houston, Texas, was nothing short of spectacular. Dubbed the “Beyoncé Bowl,” the performance marked the live debut of her new album Cowboy Carter, with several star-studded surprises, including her 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
A Performance for the Ages
The iconic singer began her act in dramatic fashion, entering the field on horseback wearing a white-feathered gown and western hat. She opened with 16 Carriages before transitioning into a heartfelt rendition of Blackbird.
As the performance progressed, Beyoncé appeared at the center of the field in a dazzling bodysuit and chaps to perform Ya Ya. The spectacle grew more electrifying when lights spelling out My House illuminated the stands, leading into her performance of Riverdance, accompanied by a marching band.
Adding to the lineup was Shaboozey, who joined Beyoncé for their duet Sweet Honey Buckiin, followed by Post Malone performing Levii’s Jeans. The event hit its peak when Beyoncé sang Jolene atop a vintage truck and closed with her hit single Texas Hold ‘Em.
A Family Moment on Stage
The highlight of the evening was Blue Ivy’s surprise appearance during the finale. Beyoncé referenced her daughter in a lyric change, singing, “Then spin me in the middle, Blue, I can’t read your mind.” The mother-daughter duo captivated the audience with an intricate line dance, concluding with Beyoncé ascending on a platform adorned with a banner that read BANG.
Part of Netflix’s NFL Christmas Gameday
The performance was part of Netflix’s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday, which also included the Chiefs-Steelers matchup. The event was streamed live, with replay access until three hours post-game.
Cowboy Carter Takes Center Stage
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album, which features collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson, made its live debut at the halftime show. The lead single, Texas Hold ‘Em, is now certified 2x Platinum, while 16 Carriages has achieved Gold certification.
A Legacy of Excellence
This marks Beyoncé’s return to the NFL stage, following her iconic performances at the 2013 Super Bowl and her surprise appearance during Coldplay’s 2016 halftime show.
Earlier this month, Beyoncé became the female artist with the most RIAA-certified titles (103 in total). Her groundbreaking album Renaissance also achieved 2x Platinum status, cementing her legacy as a global music icon.
