Marvel Studios has unveiled the first trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” the highly anticipated fourth installment in the Captain America series and the first to feature Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon, taking on the iconic mantle of Captain America.
New Era of Captain America
Anthony Mackie steps into the role previously held by Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. The transition occurred at the end of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” where Steve Rogers handed over his vibranium shield to Sam Wilson after deciding to live out his life with Peggy Carter in the past. Sam’s journey as the new Cap was further explored in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which was met with critical acclaim and received five Emmy nominations.
Plot Highlights and Key Characters
In the new trailer, Sam Wilson is seen in action, showcasing his new role as Captain America. The storyline introduces Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who tries to recruit Captain America as a U.S. agent. The plot quickly escalates with an assassination attempt at the White House, leading to intense action sequences.
A significant reveal in the trailer is the appearance of Red Hulk, the gamma-irradiated alter-ego of “Thunderbolt” Ross, a transformation familiar to fans of the Marvel comics. Whether the film will follow this exact storyline remains to be seen, adding to the anticipation.
