Robert Pattinson is once again collaborating with director Christopher Nolan for the filmmaker’s next closely guarded project at Universal Pictures. Pattinson joins a star-studded ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya.
Production Plans and Upcoming Projects
Universal and Nolan’s follow-up to their Oscar-winning drama Oppenheimer is projected to start production in the first half of 2025. Pattinson will be busy in the New Year, with Warner Bros. planning a sequel to The Batman (2022), where he will reprise his role as the DC Comics superhero.
Pattinson is also starring in Primetime, a thriller from A24, inspired by the reality show To Catch a Predator. This indie project marks the debut narrative feature of rising filmmaker Lance Oppenheim, with production ramping up early next year.
Robert Pattinson’s Other Upcoming Projects
In addition to Nolan’s film, Robert Pattinson is set to star in Bong Joon-Ho’s sci-fi comedy Mickey 17, which will release on April 18, 2025. The $150 million production from Warner Bros. is Joon-Ho’s long-awaited follow-up to Parasite, with Pattinson taking a leading role in the film.
Pattinson and Nolan’s Previous Collaboration on Tenet
Robert Pattinson previously worked with Nolan on Tenet, the director’s time-bending thriller, which marked his final feature at Warner Bros. After Tenet‘s release during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nolan’s strained relationship with the studio led him to move to Universal for Oppenheimer.
A Gift to Nolan: A Nod to Oppenheimer
As part of a popular piece of Nolan lore, Pattinson gifted Nolan a book of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s speeches as a production-wrap present after Tenet‘s principal photography wrapped. This gesture foreshadowed the director’s next project, a biopic about the father of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, which would later become a massive success.
Release Date for Nolan’s Next Film
Universal has slated the release of Nolan’s next film for July 17, 2026, with plans to release it in both theaters and IMAX.
