India booked their place in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a commanding four-wicket victory over Australia at the Dubai International Stadium. The Men in Blue successfully chased down Australia’s target of 265, thanks to a steady 84 from Virat Kohli and a crucial 45 from Shreyas Iyer.

Kohli Anchors India’s Chase: Champions Trophy 2025

India’s chase started on a shaky note as opener Shubman Gill fell early to Sean Abbott. However, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli steadied the innings with a solid partnership. Australia, however, missed key opportunities, dropping Rohit Sharma twice and Virat Kohli once in the field. Rohit eventually departed for 38, but Kohli remained steadfast, playing the anchor role.

Shreyas Iyer provided valuable support with a composed 45 before he was dismissed by Adam Zampa. Hardik Pandya’s quickfire 32 off 22 balls ensured India stayed ahead in the chase. Despite late hiccups, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul guided India over the line with five balls to spare.

Australia’s Innings: Smith and Carey Shine

Earlier, Australia posted a total of 264 after opting to bat first. Steve Smith led the charge with a well-crafted 73, while wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey contributed 61. The Aussies looked set for a bigger total, but quick wickets derailed their innings.

Mohammed Shami was India’s standout bowler, claiming 3/42. Axar Patel chipped in with a crucial dismissal of Glenn Maxwell, while Varun Chakravarthy was economical, tightening the screws on the Australian middle order. A brilliant piece of fielding by Shreyas Iyer led to Carey’s run-out, shifting momentum in India’s favor.

India’s Unbeaten Streak Continues

India have been dominant throughout the tournament, registering comprehensive victories in the group stage. With key players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer in form, and bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy delivering strong performances, the team looks well-balanced heading into the final.

Skipper Rohit Sharma acknowledged the team’s collective effort, saying, “It was a complete performance. Our bowlers did a great job, and the batters executed the chase well. We are looking forward to the final.”

Awaiting the Final Opponent

India will now face the winner of the second semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa, scheduled for March 5. The final is set to take place at the same venue on March 7, with India aiming to lift their third ICC Champions Trophy title.

With confidence running high in the Indian camp, cricket fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling final. Can India continue their unbeaten run and claim the coveted trophy? Only time will tell.
