Official Holiday Dates Confirmed
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has officially announced a four-day paid holiday for private sector employees in the United Arab Emirates in observance of Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.
The holiday will begin on Thursday, June 5, 2025, and will continue through Sunday, June 8, 2025. Normal working hours will resume on Monday, June 9.
Holiday Applicable to Both Public and Private Sectors

Earlier, the UAE government had also confirmed the same holiday dates for the federal public sector, ensuring a unified observance period across the country for Eid Al Adha celebrations. This alignment provides a long weekend opportunity for all employees to celebrate with family and friends.
Guidelines for Working During the Holidays–
According to UAE labour law, if an employee is required to work during an official public holiday, the employer is obligated to compensate them accordingly. This may be done in one of two ways:
- Granting an alternative day off
- Providing the employee with their regular salary plus an additional 50% of the basic daily wage for that day
This regulation applies to all private sector companies and ensures fair compensation for those who continue operations during national holidays.
Conclusion
With this announcement, employees in the UAE can now plan for a long weekend during one of the most significant Islamic holidays of the year. The unified schedule for both sectors reinforces the country’s commitment to work-life balance and cultural observance.
