On Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, the BBC shared a video featuring the meeting of Rumeysa Gelgi and Jyoti Amge during the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day.
Gelgi, who is 27 years old, is the tallest living woman, standing at 7’7.1″. Amge, a 30-year-old actress from India, holds the title of the shortest living woman at 2’7″.
Gelgi and Amge Share a Heartwarming Greeting

The video shows Gelgi, who is an advocate and researcher from Turkey, warmly greeting Amge. Gelgi says, “Hello, how are you?” as Amge walks over, smiling brightly and waving.
“It was so lovely to meet the tallest woman in the world for the first time,” Amge shared. “She is so good-natured, I feel really comfortable with her.”
Common Interests Between the Tallest and Shortest Women

Both women shared a moment of connection over mutual interests, including self-care, makeup, nails, and jewelry. Gelgi explained, “We both love self-care, makeup, doing our nails and jewelry.”

Gelgi made history when she was named the tallest living female teenager at the age of 17. She was later confirmed as the tallest woman living in 2021. Amge, on the other hand, was recognized as the shortest living female teenager in 2009 at the age of 15 and confirmed as the shortest woman living in 2011.
