The Met Gala 2024 was a night of glamour, fashion, and unforgettable performances. Among the highlights was a special duet by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
Grande, known for her powerful vocals and chart-topping hits, shared the stage with Erivo, her co-star in the upcoming “Wicked” film. The duo performed “When You Believe,” a song originally by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Their harmonious rendition was a standout moment of the evening.
Grande’s performance began with a fairy-like entrance, as she was carried into the Metropolitan Museum of Art event space by dancers. She then sang “Once Upon a Dream” from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, followed by her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends” from her new album Eternal Sunshine.
Erivo joined Grande on stage for the finale, their voices blending beautifully in “When You Believe”. The performance was a preview of their chemistry in the upcoming “Wicked” film, where Grande will play Glinda and Erivo will play Elphaba.
The Met Gala, co-chaired by Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth, was Grande’s first since 2018. She attended the event in a custom white gown designed by Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson.
Erivo expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to perform with Grande at the Met Gala. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Hey Ari? You know this already but I love you and thank you. You’ll never really know what it meant to me, because I don’t have the words”.
The Met Gala 2024 was a night of fashion and music, and the performance by Grande and Erivo was a tribute to the power of collaboration. It was a moment that attendees and viewers will remember for years to come.
