The Tecate Pa’l Norte festival kicked off on March 27, 2026, at Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Mexico, showcasing a diverse lineup that included Tyler, The Creator, Deftones, Interpol, Morat, Myke Towers, and Los Traileros del Norte. This year’s festival attracted thousands of attendees eager to experience a blend of rap, alternative rock, metal, pop, electronic music, and regional Mexican sounds. K-pop star Jackson Wang added a special touch by celebrating his 32nd birthday with an extravagant performance featuring flames and 40 dancers.
A Grand Opening
The festival commenced with a vibrant atmosphere as attendees gathered to enjoy performances from various artists. During the event, Majo Aguilar and David Velasco, the vocalist of the band Porter, inaugurated a new stage named “Entre Cheves y Compas,” engaging the audience in a live recording session. Jordy Medina opened the Club Social KIA stage with electronic sounds, followed by RØZ, who invited Nsqk to perform “No Veo Bien.”
The festival continues on March 28, featuring legendary band Guns N’ Roses, Grupo Frontera, Turnstile, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Cypress Hill, The Warning, El Bogueto, Judeline, Simple Plan, Enjambre, Luck Ra, and more.
Tyler, The Creator Takes Center Stage
Tyler, The Creator emerged as the standout performer of the first day. The 35-year-old rapper and producer captivated the audience with his dynamic stage presence and energetic set, which included hits like “Big Poe,” “St. Chroma,” “Noid,” “Darling, I,” “Sugar on My Tongue,” and “Are We Still Friends.” He expressed his appreciation for Mexico by incorporating a mix of “Tamale” with the word “Mexico” during his performance, projecting the Mexican flag on stage, which elicited a roaring ovation from the crowd.
Jackson Wang’s Memorable Debut
Jackson Wang, a former member of the K-pop group GOT7, made a memorable debut at a Latin American music festival. His performance featured flames and 40 dancers, with songs like “Buck,” “Let Loose,” and “GBAD” encouraging fans to wave their lightsticks. The highlight of his set was the celebration of his 32nd birthday, where dozens of fans sang “Happy Birthday” to him, creating a festive atmosphere.
Deftones’ Powerful Performance
Deftones, the alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, made their debut at the festival, delivering a highly anticipated performance attended by many Gen Z fans who discovered them on TikTok. Their setlist included classics such as “Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away),” “Swerve City,” “Diamond Eyes,” “Sextape,” and “Hole in the Earth,” along with tracks from their acclaimed 2025 album private music. Vocalist Chino Moreno showcased his dynamic stage presence, even donning a cowboy hat thrown from the audience, which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Interpol’s Unique Connection
Interpol made Pa’l Norte their only stop in Mexico during their current international tour. Lead singer Paul Banks, who spent part of his adolescence in Mexico City, connected with the audience by speaking Spanish with a local touch. Their set featured songs like “All the Rage Back Home,” “No I in Threesome,” “C’mere,” “The Rover,” “Rest My Chemistry,” and “Obstacle 1,” which Banks introduced as “Obstáculo 1.” He expressed his honor in performing for what he described as “the best fans in the world,” prompting a significant ovation.
Morat’s Return
Colombian band Morat, a prominent Latin act at the festival, returned as one of the main acts. They opened their set with “Faltas Tú,” followed by “Cómo Te Atreves” and “A Dónde Vamos.” Vocalist Juan Pablo Villamil noted the large crowd, stating, “We’ve never seen so many people as we did now,” after performing “Me Toca a Mí” and “Segundos Platos.” Their set also included a rock version cover of Los Bukis’ “Tu Cárcel,” performed by Enanitos Verdes.
