F1® The Movie presents the compelling tale of Sonny Hayes, a former racing driver portrayed by Brad Pitt. Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Hayes was once considered the brightest talent in the world of Formula 1 during the 1990s. After a racing accident almost ended his career, he has spent three decades racing as a freelancer. His past catches up to him when his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, approaches him to join his struggling Formula 1 team.

Additionally, the project provided valuable opportunities for 15 young local interns, who gained hands-on experience in film production while working alongside renowned industry professionals. This initiative illustrates the positive impact of major film projects on the local creative economy.

F1® The Movie is overseen by director Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick. The production is a result of a partnership between several notable figures, including Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, seven-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
The screenplay, crafted by Ehren Kruger, is based on a story co-developed with Kosinski, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the film.
