Dubai Crown Prince Unveils AI Platform and Startup Program to Boost Digital Economy
Dubai is embarking on an ambitious journey to position itself as a leader in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. Under the guidance of the Dubai Crown Prince, significant initiatives have been launched aimed at enhancing Dubai’s economic landscape and technological capabilities.
Advancing the Digital Vision of Dubai
At a recent meeting of the Higher Committee for Future Technology Development and the Digital Economy, the Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved several pivotal projects targeting the acceleration of the digital economy. He stated that the commitment to advanced technology is enshrined in the vision of Dubai’s leaders, emphasizing the goal of creating an integrated digital economy driven by knowledge and innovation.
“This vision aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to harness technology to improve government efficiency and cybersecurity,” said Sheikh Hamdan. The comprehensive approach ensures that all government sectors work collaboratively to foster a unified ecosystem that promotes data sharing and innovation.
Key Initiatives to Enhance AI Adoption
The committee that convened has articulated a series of groundbreaking initiatives designed to enhance the adoption of AI across various sectors:
1. AI Infrastructure Empowerment Platform
A pivotal initiative is the establishment of an AI infrastructure empowerment platform. This platform is designed to provide government entities with a secure and integrated digital environment, equipped with ready-to-use smart services. Notably, it aims to:
- Accelerate AI adoption across vital sectors
- Improve operational efficiency and lower costs via shared resources
- Fortify governance and enhance cybersecurity measures to safeguard government data
By creating a reliable and scalable foundation, this platform is expected to expedite the development of AI-driven solutions within Dubai’s governmental framework.
2. Formation of the Dubai AI Acceleration Taskforce
In a bid to bolster inter-departmental collaboration, the Dubai AI acceleration taskforce has been established. This group will work to synchronize AI adoption strategies and streamline decision-making processes among government entities. Following consultations with Chief AI Officers from various departments, the taskforce aims to address challenges while leveraging opportunities for AI deployment.
The initiative seeks to facilitate the swift rollout of advanced AI solutions, promising measurable impacts across diverse sectors.
3. Unicorn 30 Program
Another vital development is the Unicorn 30 program, introduced by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. This initiative aims to nurture 30 promising startups, aspiring to transform them into global unicorns—companies valued at over a billion dollars. Collaborating with 80 local and international firms, the program encompasses ten initiatives related to financing, growth, and governance, all structured around the Dubai Founders HQ.
With access to global best practices and an environment conducive to international scaling, these startups are positioned for significant growth within Dubai’s dynamic digital ecosystem.
GITEX Global 2026: A Future-Focused Event
During the meeting, plans for GITEX Global 2026 were also reviewed, marking an important pivot as the event is set to relocate to Expo City Dubai. This move represents a milestone in the event’s 45-year history and promises to enhance its global outreach.
The event will showcase a wealth of content and foster greater engagement with international industry leaders, supported by infrastructure that reflects Dubai’s vision for a sustainable future.
Additionally, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the ongoing development of several key projects, including the Dubai PropTech Hub, which aims to be the largest real estate technology hub in the MENA region by 2030. The hub is designed to attract 200 companies, generating over 3,000 skilled jobs and further supporting Dubai’s innovation-driven economy.
Leadership for a Digitally Empowered Future
The meeting gathered key officials responsible for driving Dubai’s digital transformation initiatives. Among those in attendance were the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, and the Director General of Dubai Digital Authority.
Their collective leadership underscores Dubai’s dedication to fostering innovation and achieving technological excellence as the city accelerates toward a future defined by digital capabilities and smart governance. The collaborative efforts reflect a shared commitment to sustainable development and the realization of a digitally empowered economy.
