Launch of the World Sports Summit
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Dubai Sports Council has officially announced the inaugural World Sports Summit (WSS), taking place from December 29-30, 2025, at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the event is themed ‘Uniting the World Through Sports.’
The WSS aims to convene a distinguished assembly of global sports decision-makers, experts, and iconic athletes, fostering dialogue and insights regarding the future landscape of sports worldwide.
A Gathering of Influential Figures
This summit is anticipated to be the largest of its kind, with over 70 speakers representing sports leadership, global stars, and renowned sports figures, each bringing their unique experiences and expertise.
Notable personalities confirmed to participate include prominent figures such as Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and sports legends including Ronaldo Nazario, Paolo Maldini, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Manny Pacquiao. Their presence highlights the summit’s role as a global platform for sports excellence.
Vision for Sports and Economic Growth
During a recent press conference, H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, underscored the summit’s significance in aligning with Dubai’s vision to enhance its global standing as a hub for leadership and innovation in the sports sector. “Sports today have become a major driver of economic growth and a key element in enhancing quality of life,” he stated.
H.E. Belhoul also outlined the summit’s alignment with the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, which aims to elevate Dubai’s global leadership and attract significant sports talents and events.
Institutional Excellence in Sports
H.E. Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, reaffirmed that the hosting of the WSS marks another step in Dubai’s commitment to develop its sports sector. “Dubai’s global reputation in the sports field has been established through years of international partnerships and investment in infrastructure,” H.E. Hareb remarked. This event is part of a broader initiative to transition Dubai into a leader in global sports dialogue.

The World Sports Summit will also spotlight the 13th edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Sports Award. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan, this award acknowledges individuals and institutions that exemplify excellence in sports, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to a broader understanding of sporting achievements.
Keynote Sessions and Strategic Discussions
Attendees can expect more than 20 keynote sessions that will delve into pressing issues and future challenges within the sports sector. Topics will explore the growing roles of athletes as influential societal figures, the transformative impact of technology and artificial intelligence, and the contributions of sports to diplomacy and governance.
A focal point of discussions will be strategies for engaging younger audiences through evolving digital channels and enhancing connections with sports communities.

Essa Sharif Al Marzouqi, President of the World Sports Summit, emphasizes the summit’s unique approach, which transcends traditional conferences.
