Dubai Open Football Academies Tournament Sets Record Participation
Largest Edition in History
The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has officially launched the Dubai Open Football Academies Tournament (DOFA), marking a significant milestone in its commitment to nurturing young sporting talent. In collaboration with the UAE Football Association and Delta Aid Sport, this year’s tournament stands as the largest and most inclusive in its history.
Bringing together an impressive 12,000 players, the event comprises 558 teams from 117 academies, showcasing the involvement of 40 girls’ teams. The tournament’s participants span various age groups, from 6 to 23 years, representing academies throughout all Emirates.
Growth in Participation and Team Entries
The DOFA has experienced noteworthy growth in both player participation and team entries. This year, there is a recorded 9.1% increase in players and an 11.6% rise in teams compared to the previous edition, which featured 11,000 players and 500 teams from 100 academies. This increasing interest highlights the tournament’s essential role in promoting emerging talent and broadening football engagement across the UAE.
The championship is organized under a single-round league system and incorporates a Super Cup competition featuring the top group winners. Matches are scheduled throughout the sports season at nine different venues, including the renowned Dubai Sports City. This structure allows for extensive participation and equal opportunities for all players and academies.
