Dubai Residential aims for one billion steps in community fitness challenge during Dubai Fitness Challenge 2023

Dubai Residential, a prominent player in the emirate’s leasing landscape, has set an ambitious goal of achieving one billion steps across its 21 communities as part of the 10th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC). This initiative, in collaboration with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, aims to engage over 146,000 residents in a collective fitness journey, aligning with DFC’s 30×30 challenge. The event runs from October 31 to November 29, allowing participants to track their daily steps via the fitze app, contributing to the overarching target.

Community Engagement Through Fitness

Throughout the challenge, Dubai Residential will host a variety of fitness events in selected communities, including Layan, Shorooq, Ghoroob, and The Gardens. These events will feature activities such as yoga, Zumba, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and family-oriented sports challenges. Ahmad Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of Dubai Residential, emphasized the initiative’s dual purpose: promoting healthier lifestyles while fostering community spirit. “By encouraging residents to incorporate more movement into their everyday lives, we are supporting healthier, more active lifestyles,” he noted.

Incentives and Rewards

To further motivate participation, Dubai Residential has introduced a rewards system for top performers. More than AED 30,000 in Dubai Retail gift cards will be distributed, with the top three participants receiving AED 5,000, AED 3,000, and AED 2,000, respectively. Additionally, each of the 21 communities will recognize its highest-performing participant with a reward of AED 1,000. Beyond these incentives, residents can also compete for a share of AED 1 million in rewards through the fitze app, which includes opportunities for international trips, staycations, dining experiences, and shopping vouchers.

Building a Healthier Dubai

The DFC aims to position Dubai as one of the world’s most active cities, and initiatives like this one underscore the importance of community involvement in achieving that vision. Yaqoub Al Zarouni, Senior Manager of Dubai Fitness Challenge, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that the collective participation of residents across 21 communities exemplifies the power of community in fostering a more active lifestyle.

As the challenge unfolds, Dubai Residential’s commitment to enhancing community fitness and well-being will be closely observed, with the potential to inspire similar initiatives across the emirate. For those interested in participating, the challenge is set to commence on October 31, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to a collective fitness goal while enjoying a range of engaging activities.
