Dubai Silicon Oasis and MIT Conclude Third Cohort of MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator Program, Awarding AED100,000 in Funding to Innovative Startups
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) has successfully concluded the third cohort of the MIT DesignX Dubai Accelerator Program (MDXB) with a Demo Day held at its facilities. This initiative, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Global Growth Hub (GGH), aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.
Completion of the Program’s First Phase
The conclusion of this cohort marks a significant milestone in the program, celebrating a new generation of design-led ventures. The third cohort consisted of 11 innovative startups that were selected through a competitive application process. Nearly half of these ventures are based outside the UAE, representing diverse sectors such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, sustainable materials, autonomous systems, and workforce technologies.
During the program’s initial phase, founders engaged in intensive workshops and mentorship sessions led by MITdesignX, supported by MIT student interns and the Global Growth Hub. Participants received structured guidance, access to Dubai’s innovation ecosystem, and connections with investors, corporate partners, and government stakeholders.
Funding and Recognition for Top Startups
At the Demo Day, a total of AED100,000 in equity-free funding was awarded to the three top-performing startups, alongside one-year business setup packages at Dubai Silicon Oasis. The winning teams included:
- Katrix: This startup has developed a real-time AI perception platform designed for autonomous systems and smart infrastructure.
- Wellmatix: An AI-powered platform that accelerates sustainable materials and chemical research.
- Nashid: A workforce verification solution that enhances compliance and safety across industrial and construction projects.
Additionally, Apollo Medica, which integrates AI and wearable technology to improve rehabilitation outcomes, and The B.E. Story, which creates bioenzyme-based solutions for transforming organic waste into eco-friendly cleaning products, were also recognized with one-year DSO business setup packages for their impactful innovations.
Statements from Program Leaders
Badr Buhannad, Director General of Dubai Silicon Oasis, emphasized the program’s alignment with Dubai’s long-term economic vision. He stated that the initiative reflects a strategic commitment to advancing design-led, technology-driven entrepreneurship.
