Dubai Sports World 2026 Launches with Over 40 Courts and New Activities to Boost Community Engagement

Dubai Sports World (DSW), the largest indoor sports and fitness venue in the region, has officially commenced its summer season for 2026. The event, which opened on June 19 and will run until August 25, features more than 40 courts and pitches across an expansive area of over 280,000 square feet, offering nine core sporting activities for participants of all ages.

Inauguration Ceremony

The 16th edition of DSW was inaugurated by Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President of Dubai World Trade Centre, alongside Essa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at Dubai Sports Council. Representatives from Dubai Police, including Major Abdullah Ahmed Al Ammari, Captain Ali Hassan Al Rahma, First Lieutenant Juma Salim Al Maqbal, and Fatima Ahmed Buhajir, Chairman of the Positive Spirit Department, were also present. The guest of honour was Maryam Alfarsi, the first Emirati female sprinter to compete in the Olympic Games.

Activities and Facilities

Organized by Dubai World Trade Centre in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council, DSW aims to provide a variety of activities, events, and challenges designed to keep families engaged and active throughout the summer. The venue operates daily from 8 AM to midnight at Za’abeel Halls 2 – 6.

This year’s edition features a diverse range of sporting activities, including football, basketball, padel, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, badminton, cricket, and pickleball. The extensive facilities are designed to cater to individuals of all skill levels, promoting community well-being through physical activity.

Commitment to Community Well-Being

Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar emphasized the importance of DSW in enhancing community well-being. He stated that the initiative reflects a commitment to providing accessible sporting opportunities during the summer months. By collaborating with the Dubai Sports Council and strategic partners, the aim is to encourage residents to adopt active lifestyles and improve their physical and mental health through sport.

Essa Sharif highlighted DSW’s role as a cornerstone of Dubai’s summer sporting calendar. He noted that the event aligns with the leadership’s vision to integrate sport and physical activity into daily life. Through community-focused events, Dubai continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most active and livable cities.

The partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre has allowed for continuous evolution of the platform, expanding access to high-quality sporting facilities and programs for families, youth, professional athletes, People of Determination, and senior citizens.

Fatima Ahmed Buhajir remarked on the alignment of DSW with Dubai Police’s vision to enhance happiness and improve quality of life. She expressed pride in participating in such a significant sports event, which fosters community bonds and promotes positive values surrounding health and physical activity. She encouraged the public, along with Dubai Police staff and their families, to take advantage of the diverse programs available.

New Features for 2026

This year, DSW introduces a new 1km indoor running and walking track, providing a controlled environment for those looking to maintain their fitness levels without exposure to the outdoor heat. Another addition is Wolfi’s Cycling Academy, which offers structured cycling sessions aimed at both beginners and experienced cyclists.

Additionally, the event has expanded its program to include Orienteering, a sport that combines physical activity with navigation and problem-solving, in collaboration with the UAE Orienteering Foundation.
