Brad Pitt and George Clooney lit up the Venice Film Festival on September 1, 2024, with their new film, Wolfs, receiving a four-minute standing ovation. The premiere was marked by delays and fan frenzy, as the crowd eagerly awaited the stars. When Brad Pitt and Clooney finally arrived, they were met with enthusiastic cheers and chaotic energy, leading to some ticketless fans being ejected during the film.
The two actors took to the theater’s balcony to greet fans, dancing to Sade’s “Smooth Operator” as the credits rolled. Clooney, who was accompanied by his wife Amal, shared a kiss with her amidst the celebration. Despite the standing ovation being shorter than expected, the premiere’s excitement was palpable.
Wolfs, directed by Jon Watts and written by him, stars Brad Pitt and Clooney as rival fixers who must team up for a shared job. The film also features Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan. Watts, who was absent from the premiere due to COVID, has already been working on a sequel with Pitt and Clooney.
The film marks the first time Brad Pitt and Clooney have co-headlined a movie since the Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading in 2008. They previously worked together in the Ocean’s franchise from 2001 to 2007. After its Venice debut, Wolfs will have a limited theatrical release on September 20 and will be available on Apple TV+ on September 27.
