The venue attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors and hosted over 75 events, positioning itself as a vibrant hub for international engagement and cultural exchange. As it prepares for an exciting 2026, Expo City, along with the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), is set to become a premier locale for major international events.
Diverse Events Drive Global Engagement
Throughout the year, Expo City hosted a varied array of events, including sustainability summits, art festivals, educational forums, family celebrations, and sporting competitions. Each event attracted diverse audiences, reinforcing Expo City’s significance in promoting global connectivity and cultural dialogue.
Sholto Douglas-Home, the Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at Expo City Dubai, remarked, “Expo City Dubai’s strength as both an organizer and ideal host venue shone through this year, serving as a platform where visionaries, creators, and changemakers convene.” He emphasized the importance of building on this momentum to enhance Dubai’s reputation within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Noteworthy International Gatherings
One of the standout events was the Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (APCS), a first for the Middle East. This landmark gathering welcomed more than 150 mayors and leaders from over 300 cities to discuss critical issues such as urban growth, inclusion, and sustainability.
The event attracted over 1,500 speakers and delegates, signaling Dubai’s growing prominence as a global business hub. The summit also unlocked approximately $9 billion in investment opportunities, underscoring Expo City’s effectiveness in convening influential stakeholders.
Advancements in Sustainability and Industry Leadership
The momentum continued with the Sustainable Destinations Forum and the 13th Clean Energy Business Council Annual Summit, which brought together policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to explore avenues for responsible tourism and clean energy initiatives.
Expo City’s commitment to environmental stewardship was further highlighted by the inauguration of Terra’s IUCN Centre for Species Survival. This new global platform focuses on accelerating biodiversity protection. Additionally, in January, the late Dr. Jane Goodall inaugurated the Jane Goodall Pollinator Garden at Terra, designed as a sanctuary for bees aimed at raising awareness about their crucial role in ecosystems.
Cultural Celebrations and Community Engagement
Signature events such as Hai Ramadan celebrated the Islamic holy month, while the Emirati-led light exhibition, Dhai Dubai, returned for its second edition. The city united in meaningful festivities to commemorate Eid Al Etihad from December 2nd to 3rd, marking a period of reflection and cultural importance for the community.
Expo City also enhanced its partnership with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, launching the House of Arts. This initiative marks a new era for artistic, cultural, and community engagement, with the House of Arts located in the esteemed former Morocco Pavilion. This public space is poised to be a dynamic venue for exhibitions, workshops, and creative expression.
