Formula 1 and the FIA have officially announced the calendar for the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship, featuring 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and an expanded schedule of 10 Sprint events. This announcement follows the approval by the World Motor Sport Council.
2027 Season Overview
Pre-season testing is set to take place in Bahrain from February 24 to 27, leading into the first race of the season at the same venue. Following Bahrain, the championship will move to Saudi Arabia, then to Australia, Japan, and China, before heading to the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix.
The European leg of the calendar will see Formula 1 return to Portugal in June, after the Monaco Grand Prix, with Türkiye rejoining the schedule in October between Azerbaijan and Singapore. The season will conclude with races in Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo, and Las Vegas, before the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Increased Sprint Events
The 2027 calendar reflects Formula 1’s ongoing growth as a global sport and entertainment platform, with a more efficient geographical flow of events. The number of Sprint events has increased from six to ten, responding to strong demand and delivering more competitive action for fans and broadcasters. Since the introduction of the Sprint format in 2021, total viewership of Sprint weekends has been 12% higher than non-Sprint weekends, with 82% of attendees at Sprint events stating it adds value to their ticket.
New Sprint events will be hosted in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco, and Abu Dhabi, while returning to Montreal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo, and Lusail, promising action-packed weekends for fans worldwide.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed enthusiasm about the new calendar, stating, “The 2027 calendar brings together some of the most iconic circuits and vibrant cities in the world, creating an incredible stage for another unforgettable season of Formula 1.” He emphasized the sport’s growth and the excitement that the expanded Sprint racing will bring to fans.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the calendar’s reflection of the sport’s global appeal and growth. He noted, “With 24 Grands Prix across five continents, the return of Portugal and Türkiye, and the opportunity for an expanded Sprint programme, the calendar combines tradition, innovation, and fan engagement.”
