Jeanine McLean Strengthens Music Management Landscape with Launch of Castlight Media & Management, Featuring B2K and More
Jeanine McLean, the former president and managing partner of MBK Entertainment, has embarked on a new venture with the establishment of Castlight Media & Management Group, based in New Jersey. Launched a year ago, the firm has quickly gained traction, collaborating with notable artists such as Grammy-nominated R&B/pop singer Omarion, his reunited group B2K, R&B artist Tone Stith, and country musician Brittney Spencer. During her tenure at MBK, McLean worked with prominent figures in the music industry, including Alicia Keys, H.E.R., and Elle Varner.
Castlight’s Mission and Vision
McLean articulates that Castlight is dedicated to “casting positive energy and motion in highlighting an artist’s talent.” The company’s logo features a silhouette of her grandfather, a professional stand-up bass player, symbolizing the legacy and passion that drives her work.
The Boys 4 Life Tour
Currently, the Boys 4 Life tour is capturing national attention, featuring co-headliners Bow Wow and B2K, marking a 25th anniversary reunion with Omarion. This tour, produced by the Black Promoters Collective, commenced on February 12 in Columbia, South Carolina, and has already made stops in major cities such as Washington, D.C., Houston, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, with its final performance scheduled for April 26 in Memphis.
McLean noted the electric excitement surrounding the tour, which is part of a broader trend of nostalgia-driven events. She highlighted that fans, now in their late 30s, are actively participating, bringing memorabilia and sharing the experience with their children, thereby reconnecting with cherished moments from their past.
New Music and Record Deals
In addition to managing tours, McLean has secured a new record deal for Omarion. His solo catalog includes the multiplatinum hit “Post to Be,” featuring Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko, as well as the gold-certified track “Ice Box.” Under the Create Music Group label, Omarion has released his latest single, “Fantasy,” and is set to launch his upcoming album, O2, on June 30, a nod to his 2005 debut album, O.
Rising Stars and Upcoming Releases
Tone Stith is also making strides in his career, with his latest single “Fly” reaching No. 10 on Billboard’s Adult Airplay chart as of April 4. His next album, The Edge, is slated for release on May 15 through MNRK Music Group. Furthermore, a new EP from B2K is in the works, distributed by Vydia, with McLean serving as the lead manager for the group.
McLean expressed optimism regarding the recent resurgence of R&B music, noting a return to more soulful sounds and meaningful lyrics. She emphasized the importance of taking time with songwriting, focusing on themes of love and emotion that resonate with audiences.
Expanding Horizons
Castlight Media is also working with various artists, including producer-musician Kenneth “KP” Paige, who co-produced Stith’s “Fly.” Additionally, Brittney Spencer is preparing for upcoming performances alongside Maren Morris and Sheryl Crow, with plans for a new album and major tour announcements.
McLean, recognized as a Billboard Women in Music and R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players honoree, is also exploring opportunities in film and television. She is currently in discussions with investors regarding two film projects, indicating a broader vision for her firm that encompasses multiple facets of entertainment.
