Katie Maloney Reconsiders Reality TV Return After Stassi Schroeder’s Invitation

Katie Maloney, known for her role on Vanderpump Rules, initially hesitated to return to reality television following the conclusion of the show’s original cast in 2024. However, a call from her longtime friend Stassi Schroeder changed her perspective. Schroeder invited Maloney to join her new Hulu series, House of Stassi, after assembling the core cast.

A New Chapter in Reality Television

The new series premiered on July 29, and it explores the dynamics between Maloney and Schroeder, particularly following a fallout a few years prior. Their first on-screen meeting took place at the Belmont, a nod to Vanderpump Rules. During this encounter, Maloney candidly expressed her thoughts to Schroeder, stating, “You just make your world smaller and smaller to the point where it’s like if, I don’t know, they didn’t come out of you or they’re not married to you or they’re not on your fucking payroll, they don’t get to be in your life.” This moment prompted Schroeder, who serves as an executive producer, to remark, “Damn, this bitch is good. And that’s the type of truth-telling we need on reality TV. I need her to do this show.”

Maloney emphasized that her decision to participate in another reality show was heavily influenced by the people involved, particularly Schroeder. She noted that understanding Schroeder’s history with reality television and her approach to the show aligned with Maloney’s own values.

In discussing the differences between networks, Maloney expressed her intention to treat House of Stassi as a completely new experience. She mentioned a cameo from Ariana Madix, a fellow Vanderpump Rules alum, who agreed to film at their West Hollywood sandwich shop, Something About Her. Maloney appreciated Madix’s support and the significance of filming at their establishment.

Some cast members of House of Stassi expressed reservations about Maloney joining the group. She was unaware of the strong hesitations from individuals like Kristina Kelly and Taylor Strecker until after filming began. Notably, Schroeder’s husband, Beau Clark, voiced concerns about how Maloney’s presence might affect Schroeder’s behavior, a comment that surprised Maloney.

Personal Reflections

In a confessional interview before a pivotal dinner party on House of Stassi, Maloney shared her insights on emotional abandonment in relationships. She noted the commonality of affairs and emotional disconnects, stating, “If you stop and think about it, five times out of five times, when someone ends their marriage or long-term relationship, the common thing that’s said at the end is, ‘I felt like we were roommates.’” She clarified that her remarks were reflective of her own experiences rather than those of others.

Looking ahead, Maloney expressed her willingness to participate in a potential second season of House of Stassi. She aims to repair and strengthen her relationships while continuing to grow her friendship with Schroeder. “I just am excited to see where that goes and takes us,” she stated.
