LG Electronics is reinforcing its commitment to growth in the Middle East by announcing a strategic partnership with Expo City Dubai. The collaboration aims to develop a next-generation smart city, marking a significant step in LG’s business-to-government (B2G) expansion. This agreement was formalized on November 19, with William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics, signing alongside Ahmed Al Khatib, the Chief Development and Delivery Officer of Expo City Dubai.
The agreement aligns with discussions at the Korea-UAE Business Roundtable, where an emphasis on cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered services was established. This partnership not only strengthens LG’s longstanding relationship with Expo City Dubai but also reaffirms its role as a key player in the region’s future.
Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
LG’s history with Expo City Dubai dates back to its participation in Expo 2020, where the company provided LED signage. The recent partnership extends this collaboration, with LG set to supply built-in home appliances, including refrigerators, dishwashers, and ovens for 3,000 households being constructed within the upcoming smart city.
Through its initiative of Space as a Service, LG plans to deliver innovative solutions across numerous domains. The partnership includes cutting-edge infrastructure developments in AI data center cooling and smart home systems powered by LG’s AI Home Hub platform. This wide-ranging support showcases LG’s intention to become a comprehensive solutions provider, melding B2C, B2B, and B2G sectors within the Middle East.
“We are committed to contributing to sustainable growth in the Middle East with our differentiated HVAC technologies and AI Home Hub-based smart solutions,” remarked William Cho. He further emphasized LG’s goal of accelerating efforts to capture new opportunities in both B2B and B2G markets tailored to the unique needs of each country.
Expansion of B2B and B2G Market Presence
LG’s strategic efforts to enhance its presence are not limited to Dubai. The company is also expanding its footprint in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where it has been operational for 30 years. Regional headquarters facilitate operations across 75 markets in the Middle East and Africa, reinforcing LG’s influence in the region.
In September, LG underscored its commitment to the region by signing a memorandum of understanding to supply cooling solutions for the Middle East’s largest net-zero AI data center. This facility is being developed in Oxagon, part of Saudi Arabia’s NEOM project, and positions LG as a vital contributor to the infrastructure necessary for next-generation data centers.
The collaboration with local partners demonstrates LG’s capacity to adapt to the evolving demands of government-led initiatives. The company has been engaged in air conditioning solutions in Saudi Arabia since 1995 and solidified its relationships through a joint venture with a local partner in 2006. These long-standing partnerships have allowed LG to expand its business offerings in both B2C and B2B segments.
Future Growth Objectives in the Middle East
LG aims to significantly increase its share of the B2B business, targeting approximately 45 percent of total revenue by 2030. This strategic vision illustrates the company’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation across the Middle East.
