Qatar Updates Hayya Visa for GCC Residents to Allow Longer Stays
New Visa Rule Enhancements
Qatar has unveiled significant updates to its Hayya GCC Resident Visa (A2), designed to enhance travel experiences for regional visitors. These updates come ahead of a year filled with high-profile sporting, cultural, and entertainment events, aimed at maximizing visitor convenience and mobility.
As part of a joint initiative between Qatar Tourism and the Ministry of Interior, the new rules will be implemented on November 30, 2025. With these modifications, GCC residents will be allowed to stay in Qatar for up to two months with multiple-entry access.
Streamlined Visitor Experience
The newly announced enhancements focus on facilitating smoother arrivals and departures for visitors. The updates intend to simplify entry processes, enabling attendees to participate fully in events while also enjoying the cultural landscape of Qatar.
With the highly anticipated 2025 FIFA Arab Cup on the horizon, the updated visa provisions are expected to accommodate an influx of regional fans. This flexibility aims to support longer stays for visitors engaging in various cultural and entertainment activities across the country.
Seamless Arrival Through Hayya Platform
Qatar Tourism emphasizes that the Hayya Platform will continue to streamline the visitor experience. By integrating visa processing and event access into a single, user-friendly interface, the platform aims to ensure operational readiness during peak periods.
Saeed Al Kuwari, the Director of Hayya, stated, “These measures go beyond simple procedural changes. They reflect Qatar Tourism’s broader vision to strengthen the country’s openness to the region and facilitate visitor movement during major sports and cultural events.”
Economic Contributions and Tourism Growth
The improvements in the visa framework align with Qatar’s ambitions to enhance its tourism offerings and positioning as a regional hub for international events. By simplifying the travel process, Qatar aims to attract more visitors, ultimately boosting the national economy through increased tourism-related activities.
The Hayya Platform plays a crucial role in Qatar’s plans for tourism growth. By providing efficient entry processes, it helps to underscore Qatar’s commitment to being a premier destination for both leisure and business travelers.
Visa Categories Available Through Hayya
Currently, the Hayya Platform offers five distinctive visa types, catering to various visitor needs:
- Tourist Visa (A1)
- GCC Resident Visa (A2)
- Visa with ETA (A3)
- Companion of GCC Citizen Visa (A4)
- Visa-Free for US Citizens (F1)
These categories are designed to accommodate diverse groups of travelers, ensuring that each visitor can find suitable visa options for their stay in Qatar.
Essentially, the revisions to the Hayya GCC Resident Visa aim to not only enhance visitor access but to solidify Qatar’s status as an accessible and welcoming destination. As the country prepares to host an array of significant events, the updates reflect a proactive approach to hospitality and visitor management.
