Residents Embrace UAE Pledge: A Personal Commitment to Gratitude and Growth
Dubai: The UAE’s Pledge and Commitment initiative has resonated deeply with residents, serving as a platform for gratitude and a commitment to contribute to the nation that has significantly impacted their lives. This initiative allows individuals to reflect on the security, opportunities, and sense of belonging they have experienced in the UAE.
Launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, the initiative encourages residents to express appreciation for the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the values that have shaped the nation.
A Sense of Home
Satish Bangera, a 54-year-old Indian business advisory professional, has lived in Dubai for nearly three decades. He views signing the pledge as a straightforward decision. Bangera stated that Dubai is home for him and his family. His two daughters identify the UAE as their home, where they feel secure and at peace. He emphasized the importance of showing up for one’s home, reflecting the deep connection he feels to the country.
Having worked with various international businesses, Bangera has observed a trend where companies are increasingly choosing the UAE for its opportunities. He noted that the government continually supports those who contribute to the country. His experiences since 1998 have led him to believe that the UAE is poised for further growth, even amidst recent regional challenges. He cited a client who established a business just three months prior and was already seeing profits, indicating the potential for success in the UAE.
A Pledge of Responsibility
Haseeb Ansari, a 52-year-old Pakistani banker and chief compliance officer, has resided in Dubai for 20 years. For him, signing the pledge transcended mere loyalty; it was a personal affirmation of gratitude and responsibility. Ansari believes that a pledge is meaningful only when it is reflected in actions and contributions to society. He views his commitment as a promise to serve with integrity and to play a role in the UAE’s ongoing progress.
Ansari highlighted the UAE’s role in creating opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to build meaningful lives. He expressed that the country has become an integral part of his personal and professional journey. To him, home is defined not just by birthplace but by the roots, purpose, and opportunities it provides.
Family Life in the UAE
Na Wang, a 38-year-old Chinese marketing director who moved to Dubai in 2008, linked her decision to sign the pledge to the life she has built in the UAE. She expressed admiration for the rapid growth of infrastructure and the multicultural environment that fosters opportunities for everyone.
Wang met her husband in Dubai and is now raising her young daughter there. As a mother, she has developed a renewed appreciation for life in the UAE, noting that children learn valuable life skills beyond academics, such as confidence and teamwork. After 18 years in the UAE, she finds it increasingly difficult to consider leaving, as the country has become her home.
Community and Acceptance
Ahmed Yacout, a 29-year-old entrepreneur, also signed the pledge, emphasizing how the UAE has shaped his life. He runs a fitness coaching platform that welcomes individuals from various backgrounds and fitness levels. Yacout draws inspiration from the community he has witnessed growing up in the UAE, which he describes as a place of diversity and acceptance.
Having moved to the UAE at the age of four, Yacout appreciates the environment that rewards effort and fosters safety. He believes that the values he strives to provide in his business mirror those of the UAE. Many residents, according to Yacout, feel a strong connection with the country’s leadership, which is evident in their focus on health, fitness, and community well-being. He believes that anyone can succeed in the UAE with a strong dream and work ethic.
