Rory McIlroy Set for DP World Tour Championship Return
Seven-time Race to Dubai champion Rory McIlroy is set to compete at the DP World Tour Championship from November 12-15 at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai. McIlroy aims to equal Colin Montgomerie’s record of eight Harry Vardon Trophies during this prestigious event.
The Northern Irish golfer currently ranks second in the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, closely trailing leader Patrick Reed, who is also confirmed to participate in the tournament. McIlroy recently narrowed the gap to Reed at the BMW PGA Championship, where he finished tied for second after a closing round of 68 at Wentworth Club.
Historic Achievements and Strong Record
McIlroy returns to Dubai following a remarkable year, having successfully defended his title at the Masters in April. This achievement made him only the fourth player in history to win back-to-back Masters titles, joining legends Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods.
At 37 years old, McIlroy has a strong track record on the Earth course, having won the DP World Tour Championship three times, in 2012, 2015, and 2024. “I’ve always loved coming to Dubai, and I’ve had some great days on the Earth course, so I’m really looking forward to being back for the DP World Tour Championship,” he stated, highlighting his enthusiasm for the event.
