Turkish Firms Pursue Export Opportunities at Dubai Tech Fair
Growing Presence of Turkish Companies at GITEX Global 2025
At GITEX Global 2025, one of the largest technology and artificial intelligence events worldwide, approximately 60 Turkish firms are showcasing their innovations in Dubai. This event features 6,800 international participants, providing a valuable platform for Turkish companies to promote their products and seek export opportunities.
Ilhan Bagoren, a board member of the Service Exporters’ Association of Turkey, emphasized the significance of this annual event as a vital avenue for expanding Turkey’s presence in global markets. “We can say that Turkish firms are among the best worldwide in fields like banking and fintech,” he stated. He also pointed out that Turkey ranks among the top five countries in the gaming sector and is making strides in cybersecurity, aligning with advancements in the defense industry.
Importance of Consistent Participation in International Events
According to Bagoren, sustained participation in international events like GITEX is crucial for long-term success. “Success is not possible by participating only once,” he noted, underscoring the importance of building and maintaining a consistent presence.
The event features a diverse array of Turkish firms specializing in software, telecommunications, and cybersecurity. Bagoren revealed future plans for the expo, stating that the next edition of GITEX will take place in Istanbul next year, further enhancing Turkey’s visibility in the tech landscape.
Strategic Advantage of Dubai for Turkish Companies
Bagoren articulated the strategic advantages that Dubai offers Turkish companies, citing cultural and geographic proximity. He highlighted that Dubai’s relatively limited tech ecosystem presents a unique opportunity for Turkish firms to establish themselves. “For instance, there are tens of thousands of software companies and thousands of engineers in Germany, but no such ecosystem exists in Dubai, which is a great advantage for Turkish firms,” Bagoren explained.
Economic Impact of Turkey’s Information Technology Sector
The value of Turkey’s information technology exports reached $5 billion in the previous year. Despite a strong domestic market, Bagoren expressed optimism about the country’s potential for international trade. “Due to the sheer size of our market, Turkish firms are focused on the domestic market, but our abroad potential is really high,” he said.
He added, “We should be exporting $15 billion with the tech we have, and the only way to achieve this is to participate in events like these.” Bagoren highlighted that the local software and IT industry is maturing, closing gaps with global competitors.
The 45th Edition of GITEX Global
The ongoing GITEX Global, which began earlier this week, runs until Friday, attracting companies and investors from around the globe. This year’s event underscores Turkey’s escalating role as a competent player in the global technology sector, particularly in essential fields like banking, fintech, and cybersecurity.
Amid the gathering, opportunities for networking and collaboration abound, with Turkish firms actively positioning themselves to leverage new markets and partnerships. The focus remains on showcasing innovations that can bridge domestic capabilities with international demands, reinforcing Turkey’s commitment to global tech developments.
