UAE and EU Policymakers Meet in Dubai to Discuss SAF Adoption
High-Level Discussion on Sustainable Aviation Fuels
Senior policymakers and industry experts gathered in Dubai to discuss strategies for enhancing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) production and establishing supportive policy frameworks. This high-level session formed part of the Dubai Airshow 2025 Sustainability Programme, spotlighting the urgency of international collaboration in decarbonising the aviation sector.

In parallel, the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and National Hydrogen Strategy prioritise the use of clean fuels within a diversified energy matrix.
Lucie Berger, the EU Ambassador to the UAE, stated, “The European Union and the UAE share a common ambition to lead global efforts in sustainable aviation. By working together, we can unlock innovation, scale up clean fuel production, and create the partnerships needed to achieve climate neutrality.”

The dialogue also featured insights from Saif Ghubash, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Petroleum, Gas, and Mineral Resources Sector at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. He noted, “Through collaboration with the EU, we aim to accelerate local production, strengthen supply chains, and advance policies that support a greener aviation future.”
