UAE and Serbia Sign Cooperation Agreement to Strengthen Family Empowerment and Child Protection
Belgrade: The Ministry of Family of the United Arab Emirates has entered into a cooperation agreement with Serbia’s Ministry for Family Care and Demography. This initiative aims to enhance family preservation, empowerment, and child protection, reinforcing bilateral ties and facilitating the exchange of expertise in family and demographic policies. The agreement is designed to support family stability and improve the quality of community life in both nations.
The signing took place during the international expert conference “One Heart More,” held in Belgrade on May 24 and 25, where decision-makers, institutional representatives, and international experts gathered to discuss healthcare and family policies. UAE Minister of Family Sana bint Mohammed Suhail and Serbia’s Minister of Family Welfare and Demography, Jelena Žarić Kovačević, formalized the agreement in the presence of UAE Ambassador to Serbia, Ahmed Almenhali, along with various officials from both countries.
This agreement is part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) established between the UAE and Serbia in 2022, reflecting a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation on family and community issues.
Shared Commitment to Family Values
The agreement underscores a shared belief in the essential role of the family as a foundation for a cohesive and sustainable society. It emphasizes the need to address pressing social and demographic challenges through innovative policies that support families.
The framework established by the agreement encompasses various areas, including population and demographic policies, initiatives to enhance fertility and work-life balance, early childhood development, and increased community involvement in caring for children and the elderly. Minister Sana bint Mohammed Suhail stated that the signing of the agreement illustrates the UAE’s dedication to strengthening international partnerships aimed at advancing family and community systems. She highlighted the importance of sharing successful experiences and expertise in family empowerment and child protection, contributing to the development of stable and cohesive societies.
Aligning with National Priorities
Suhail noted that this initiative aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision, which prioritizes family as a cornerstone of societal stability and development. The UAE is actively working to establish an integrated system that supports families and enhances quality of life through specialized policies and initiatives. These efforts are in line with the objectives of the “Year of Family” and the National Family Growth Agenda 2031, which aims to strengthen family stability and empowerment.
Kovačević remarked that the memorandum of understanding with the UAE signifies a new beginning in bilateral relations, focusing on investing in families and children as vital societal assets. She emphasized the importance of building a sustainable demographic future for upcoming generations.
Framework for Joint Initiatives
The agreement lays the groundwork for joint programs and initiatives, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices. It includes organizing conferences, specialized forums, and academic visits, extending cooperation to international events and organizations focused on family and demographic issues. This collaborative approach aims to develop sustainable solutions to modern family and societal challenges, leveraging advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions to support family policies.
During her visit, Minister Suhail also met with Serbia’s Prime Minister Dr. Djuro Macut, where both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the UAE and Serbia. They praised the strong friendly relations based on cooperation, mutual respect, and trust.
The two leaders highlighted the distinguished relations between UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation in family policy and women’s empowerment in social affairs.
