UAE Launches National Training Platform to Enhance Student Job Readiness
Introduction of the National Practical Training Platform
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unveiled the National Practical Training Platform, a progressive initiative tailored to connect university students with high-quality practical training opportunities across its vibrant labor market. This platform aims to facilitate meaningful engagement between students and potential employers while addressing the evolving demands of various industries.
Strengthening Collaborations Between Sectors
Introduced via the Nafis initiative, the platform fosters a robust partnership among government bodies, academic institutions, and the private sector. Designed to enhance the employability of Emirati talent, it is pivotal in equipping students with essential practical skills that align with future employment needs.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, developed this platform as part of its digital transformation strategy. It provides a seamless digital interface for students to register for training programs.
Enhancing the Student Experience
This platform also enables government entities and private organizations to list available opportunities, reinforcing their roles as collaborative partners in the national training ecosystem. By integrating practical experience with academic learning, the platform plays a vital role in preparing qualified graduates equipped to meet market demands.
According to officials, this initiative supports the broader economic and knowledge-driven development goals of the UAE, allowing students access to advanced training across critical sectors.
Goals of the National Practical Training Platform
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated, “The National Practical Training Platform is the first national system launched to reshape practical training pathways for higher education students.” He emphasized that this launch is integral to enhancing the competitiveness of national talent within the labor market.
He added, “This initiative promotes lifelong learning and reinforces digital transformation and smart services in the labor market.” The platform facilitates comprehensive training programs while generating substantial data to improve evaluation processes.
Supporting Emiratisation Efforts
Dr. Al Awar further explained how the platform marks a significant advancement for the student training ecosystem across higher educational institutions. It strengthens Emiratisation initiatives within the private sector by creating a transparent and structured practical training environment.
“The platform represents a strategic step forward in developing the higher education ecosystem,” Dr. Al Awar remarked. “It serves as a tool for aligning all stakeholders, enabling students to benefit from practical training opportunities that prepare them for future challenges.”
Addressing Workplace Readiness
Khalil Khoori, the Undersecretary of Labour Market and Emiratisation Operations at MoHRE, highlighted the platform’s critical role in preparing students with skills that meet workplace requirements. He noted the importance of the system in bolstering student competitiveness while adhering to the highest standards in collaboration among all involved parties.
“Students must be ready to meet the needs of the various economic sectors,” Khoori stated, underscoring the platform’s alignment with the nation’s aims for workforce development.
Aligning Training with Industry Needs
Ghannam Butti Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, remarked that the platform complements the Council’s strategic vision. By aligning training initiatives with market demands, it facilitates quicker access for companies to qualified Emirati professionals possessing the necessary skills to sustain the UAE’s business environment.
The integration of this platform reflects a commitment to fostering a sustainable talent pipeline, vital for the country’s long-term economic aspirations.
Opportunities for Higher Education Institutions
Shamma Al Muhairi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, explained that the platform paves the way for strategic partnerships between higher education institutions and various economic sectors. She emphasized that all training programs must adhere to established quality standards as outlined in relevant Ministerial resolutions.
Accessible through the Nafis initiative at nafis.gov.ae, the platform serves as a registry for institutions, training providers, and students to engage. This unified approach aims to enhance access to suitable training opportunities while fostering collaboration among government, private entities, and educational institutions.
Orientation and Awareness Initiatives
To support the launch of this initiative, a series of orientation workshops are scheduled for universities, training entities, and students. These sessions will clarify the registration process while highlighting how the platform aids students in their educational and professional journeys.
The National Practical Training Platform not only elevates practical training standards but also underscores the importance of collaboration in nurturing a qualified and competent Emirati workforce. It stands as a testament to the UAE’s commitment to developing an integrated educational ecosystem that aligns with its economic objectives.
