UAE Secures $1 Billion in Defense Contracts at Dubai Airshow 2025

The opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025 has witnessed the UAE’s significant advancement in defense and security contracts, totaling AED3.776 billion ($1.03 billion). This event marks a critical moment, underscoring the UAE’s growing influence in military procurement and production capabilities.

Key Contracts Highlighted by Tawazun Council

Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, representing the Ministry of Defence, announced a total of eight agreements with both local and international entities. The official spokespersons, Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi, Abdulla Ahmed Al Saeei, and Manea Abdulkarim Al Mansoori, emphasized these contracts’ strategic implications for enhancing the country’s defense posture.

“The Directorate of Planning and Procurement plays a crucial role in executing these agreements, ensuring alignment with strategic goals while promoting supplier engagement and operational efficiency throughout the UAE’s defense ecosystem,” stated the spokespersons.

UAE Local Defence Contracts

A significant portion of the contracts consists of six local agreements amounting to AED3.041 billion ($830 million). These contracts focus on various defense-related services and logistical support.

• Global Air Navigation Services (GANS) has been awarded AED1.294 billion ($352.4 million) for air navigation services and specialized manpower.
• Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) secured AED600 million ($163.4 million) for ongoing support, spare parts, and technical assistance.
• International Golden Group signed two contracts: one for AED415 million ($113.1 million) related to follow-up support for aircraft, and another for AED299 million ($81.4 million) dedicated to the production of airdrop parachutes.
• Maximus Air received AED293 million ($79.8 million) for aircraft rental services.
• Abu Dhabi Shipping Agency has been granted AED137 million ($37.3 million) for similar aircraft rental contracts.

UAE International Contracts

In addition to local agreements, two international contracts were also confirmed, cumulatively valued at AED725 million ($197.5 million). These international partnerships highlight the UAE’s focus on strengthening its defense capabilities through global cooperation.

• Airbus Helicopters (France) was awarded AED512 million ($139.4 million) for HCare services specifically aimed at helicopter support.
• Embraer (Brazil) signed a contract worth AED212 million ($57.7 million) for the production of VIP aircraft.
