Grupo Firme Breaks Attendance Record at GNP Seguros Stadium: 5 Unforgettable Highlights
On July 17, Grupo Firme performed the first of two concerts at GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City, setting a new attendance record for regional Mexican artists at the venue, formerly known as Foro Sol. The Tijuana-based group, which previously held the record with nine performances, is set to increase their total to eleven by the end of their second show on July 18. This milestone marks a significant achievement since their first appearance at the stadium on March 24, 2022.
La Última Peda Tour
The concerts are part of Grupo Firme’s La Última Peda Tour, which spans Mexico, Central America, and South America, including stops in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica. In May 2025, the band had to cancel a scheduled performance at La Onda Fest in Napa Valley, California, due to visa issues affecting its members and the promoter’s team, which were under “administrative process” at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.
The band’s manager, Isael Gutiérrez, stated that despite the visa challenges, they explored alternative opportunities, resulting in sold-out shows across their tour. He noted that they have yet to receive updates regarding their visa status.
Chart-Topping Success
Grupo Firme boasts 13 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart, including collaborations such as “El Amor de su Vida” with Grupo Frontera and “El Beneficio de la Duda.” Their latest single, “Cabrón y Medio,” marks their first recording with mariachi influences. The group is also preparing for their first European tour, with four scheduled performances in Spain this September, including cities like Valencia, Málaga, Madrid, and Barcelona. Gutiérrez mentioned that 80% of tickets for their Spanish shows have already been sold, reflecting the strong support from fans.
A Night of Spectacle
The concert on July 17 featured a vibrant atmosphere, highlighted by a spectacular entrance from lead vocalist Eduin Caz. The setlist included approximately 45 songs, showcasing their musical range and cultural heritage through dancers and costumes inspired by Aztec royalty. The night was filled with memorable moments, enhanced by the energy of the audience.
Special guests added to the excitement of the evening. Moy Bobadilla, a rising star supported by Grupo Firme, opened the show. Later, established artists from the Sinaloan banda scene, including Luis Alfonso Partida “El Yaki,” Luis Ángel “El Flaco,” and Joss Favela, joined the group for collaborative performances. An unexpected highlight was the appearance of Los Ángeles de Charly, a band known for their romantic cumbias, which allowed Caz to showcase his appreciation for their music.
