Sabrina Carpenter’s Album Dominates Billboard 200
Sabrina Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet continues its reign on the Billboard 200, securing its third consecutive week at No. 1. Released earlier in 2024, the 12-track project features Hot 100 hits like “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste,” and has now become the second longest-running No. 1 album of the year. With 117,000 album units in its third week, Carpenter trails only Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, which logged 15 non-consecutive weeks atop the chart.
Streaming Success Drives Album’s Longevity
Much of Short n’ Sweet’s success is attributed to its performance on streaming platforms. Of the 117,000 album units earned, 101,000 are derived from streams. The album garnered 135 million streams last week alone and has dominated Billboard’s Top Streaming Albums chart since its debut in August. It initially arrived with the fourth-largest streaming numbers of the year.
Taylor Swift’s Reign and Other Chart Contenders
Although Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet continues to thrive, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department remains the longest-running No. 1 album of 2024, standing strong at 15 non-consecutive weeks on top.
New Albums on the Billboard 200
The only new entry on the albums chart this week is Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who secures a top 10 position with his solo effort Luke and Strange. The album enters at No. 10, marking Gilmour’s third top 10 solo album, with 32,000 album units and over two million streams.
Top Albums Holding Steady
Other top albums this week include Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion at No. 2, followed by Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess at No. 3. Morgan Wallen has two albums in the top 10, with One Thing at a Time at No. 4 and Dangerous: The Double Album at No. 9. Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department comes in at No. 5, while Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft lands at No. 6. Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene climbs to No. 7, and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season holds at No. 8.
