Fans of Gotham City’s brooding vigilante will have to wait longer to see Robert Pattinson don the cape again, as ‘The Batman 2‘ has been pushed back to October 1, 2027. Initially slated for October 2, 2026, the highly anticipated sequel by director Matt Reeves is now set for an Imax release the following year, Warner Bros. announced.

Taking the slot vacated by ‘The Batman 2,’ Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s untitled project starring Tom Cruise is scheduled for October 2, 2026. This enigmatic film, produced by Legendary Entertainment, follows “the most powerful man in the world” on a desperate quest to prove he’s humanity’s savior before catastrophe strikes.
The film’s stellar cast includes Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed. The project is a bold shift for Cruise, reminiscent of his earlier collaborations with auteurs like Martin Scorsese (The Color of Money) and Steven Spielberg (Minority Report).

Reeves recently confirmed in a conversation with Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman) that he’s nearing completion of the script for the sequel, with plans to begin shooting in 2025.
