A Sleeker, More Powerful Apple’s Mac Mini
Apple has introduced a new version of its Mac Mini, complete with a compact design and the powerful M4 chip. This redesigned model represents the first major overhaul of the Mac Mini’s design in over a decade. Equipped with Apple’s latest silicon and enhanced with features like ray tracing, the new Mac Mini is available for preorder now and will hit stores on November 8th. The base model starts at $599, while the upgraded M4 Pro version starts at $1,399.
Compact and Efficient Design
The new Mac Mini is impressively small, measuring just five inches in both length and width, and boasts a more efficient thermal architecture that uses the M4 chip’s capabilities to keep it cool. Apple says its innovative airflow system guides heat efficiently throughout the device, with all venting directed through the bottom.
Upgraded Connectivity and Ports
Despite its smaller size, the M4 Mac Mini includes a substantial array of ports. On the front, it has two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. At the back, you’ll find three Thunderbolt ports (with Thunderbolt 5 available on the Pro version), HDMI, and ethernet. This new model replaces USB-A ports with Thunderbolt, offering greater speed and versatility for connecting devices.
Enhanced Performance for Professionals
With up to 14 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores on the M4 Pro model, the new Mac Mini can be customized with up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage. It also supports 10-gigabit ethernet and can handle up to three 6K displays, making it a viable option for creative professionals who need serious processing power.
A Week of Mac Announcements
The Mac Mini announcement follows the debut of Apple’s M4-powered iMac and the launch of new AI software features across its operating systems. Apple is expected to unveil updated MacBook Pros soon and will likely spotlight these new offerings in its upcoming quarterly earnings report.
