Dubai Municipality Steps Up for Eid Al Adha
In preparation for the Eid Al Adha holidays, Dubai Municipality has ramped up its efforts to ensure sustainable waste management and public cleanliness. Residents are urged not to litter public places or barbecue in green areas as part of a broader initiative to maintain the city’s urban appearance and high standards of cleanliness.
Enhanced Supervisory and Field Workforce
The Municipality has deployed a robust team of 3,150 field supervisors and engineers dedicated to managing and maintaining public cleanliness. This workforce includes:
250 Supervisory and Control Staff: Overseeing basic cleaning duties, managing routine and emergency field reports, and supervising sanitation engineers.
2,250 Sanitation Engineers: Operating across Dubai in a four-shift system, equipped with necessary solutions and resources.
650 Private Sector Cleaning Engineers: Supervising cleaning operations in tourist, industrial, and desert areas.
Focus on Public Beaches and Recreational Areas
Public beaches will receive special attention, with seven field supervisors and 84 sanitation engineers working in three shifts to ensure a clean and sustainable environment. The aim is to provide a pleasant experience for beachgoers, including citizens, residents, and visitors during the holidays. Family-specific beach areas have been designated to enhance the holiday experience.
Maintenance of Main Roads and Highways
An exclusive team of 155 sanitation engineers and 10 supervisory personnel will ensure the cleanliness of 2,300 kilometres of main roads and highways, operating in four shifts. The team is prepared to handle emergencies and complaints, ensuring the hygiene of main roads and highways.
Advanced Fleet Deployment
Dubai Municipality has deployed 759 automated vehicles, including:
318 Heavy Vehicles
158 Lightweight Vehicles
176 Rental Vehicles
77 Heavy Equipment Units (connected to boats for cleaning)
30 Lightweight Equipment Units
These vehicles will support regular and emergency services 24/7, running 456 daily programs including cleaning, addressing complaints, reporting incidents, and conducting field inspections.
Operational Strategies During Eid Al Adha
The Municipality has put in place a comprehensive strategy to manage waste disposal and treatment facilities during the holidays:
Al Qusais and Bayada Landfills: Operational around the clock.
Medical Waste Incinerator at Jebel Ali: Continuous operation.
Control Room at Warsan Waste-to-Energy Conversion Facility: Operational without interruption.
Additionally, online services have been streamlined for public convenience, including applications for hazardous waste disposal, commercial waste permits, and infrastructure project approvals. Bulk waste collection services will be temporarily suspended on the first day of Eid Al Adha, resuming on the following days.
